One tin soldier (from The Legend of Billy Jack)

Thank you, Rich. I hate click tracks and find them nerve wracking. The hesitations came from my trying to stay on the beat. I will try a drum track as you suggest. I will also try my vocal mic and see how that works. I'm sure I can find a used condenser mic as well. Yes, I feel like this...

One tin soldier (from The Legend of Billy Jack)

Thank you. Is blending and panning two stereo tracks a difficult procedure?

One tin soldier (from The Legend of Billy Jack)

Thank you for your comments. Even when I use a click track, I somehow find myself getting emotionally carried away and lose the tempo. I played an Iris DF (adi/hog) dreadnought and plugged it directly into the interface. I didn't do anything to it other than use the Studio One guitar track...

One tin soldier (from The Legend of Billy Jack)

Hi all, This is a favorite song from my childhood that's all about peace on earth. Hope you enjoy it. Two tracks and learning the ropes. I've kept it really simple. Any comments welcome. I realize that timing is one of my greatest challenges. :) Cheers, HV

    Edelweiss (Sound of music cover)

Yes, I'm using Studio One. I think I should start all over and work on the timing and add harmony, bass, etc. I will decrease tempo and make it more legato. I realize the current one is not what people expect and don't want to poke when it's definitely not a poking kind of song! Let's call...

    Edelweiss (Sound of music cover)

First of all, I appreciate your listening and commenting. Thank you! To Rob, I agree with all of your keen observations and am in awe of the details that you have noted. Yes, more double tracked than two voices, yes, everything is a little strange arrangement-wise because I was struggling...

    Edelweiss (Sound of music cover)

Hi all, I tried my hand at one of my favorites. Two vocal tracks and one guitar track. I would love to hear your thoughts. Cheers, HV

Free as a bird (John Lennon cover)

Hi all, This is a song that John Lennon made a demo of and the Beatles later embellished it. I like the demo version and filled in the blanks with some of my own lyrics for the fun of it. I took a bare bones approach to recording. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, HV

Thank you. I will study this.

    Luka (Suzanne Vega cover)

Thank you for asking. This is how I go about things on Studio One: 1. I pick the singer/songwriter template that has tracks for vocals, guitar and midi-drums 2. I render a click-track 3. I lay down an acoustic guitar track, sometimes with a touch of hall reverb 4. I lay down a vocal track...

    Luka (Suzanne Vega cover)

Thank you. Looks like I have to go back to school! Do most people learn this on their own?

    Luka (Suzanne Vega cover)

Thank you. I almost always add a touch of hall reverb to my vocals. Will look into chorus for my guitar. Yes, little and subtle for a mainly natural sound would work best for me.

I don't know what an M7 is. Am I supposed to know what these numbers mean? I just use effects and if it sounds good to my ears, I keep it. What is a graphic EQ? Thank you for your input!

    Luka (Suzanne Vega cover)

Yes, my guitar is wonky and boy, is that a perfect word. I recorded vocals after my guitar track and knew it was slip slidy. I am motivated to get better at this. Thank you for your comments. I used a mic that came with my PreSonus AudioBox 96 25th Anniversary Studio Recording Bundle.

    Luka (Suzanne Vega cover)

Thank you, Rob. I appreciate your comments and know I have a lot to work on. I just started finger style a few months ago and am learning the ropes. I treat these covers as a weekly exercise, but maybe I should concentrate more on getting it right no matter how long it takes.

Thank you. I got one of these from Amazon: PreSonus AudioBox 96 25th Anniversary Studio Recording Bundle with Studio One Artist DAW Music Production Software. Nothing fancy.

Hi all, I just gave this song a shot. I know it is imperfect, but would like to know your thoughts. Thanks, HV

    For no one (Beatles cover)

Thank you! My feeling is that you learn by diving right in and seeing what happens. I'm familiar with the Emmylou Harris version and like it because it's her own style. The challenge is to retain the essence but to do it your own way. So much to learn and I appreciate all of your comments!

    For no one (Beatles cover)

I used the flat plate reverb that's in my Studio One package. There are so many different kinds but a musician said that plate is a good idea if I want to achieve James Taylor or Karen Carpenter type vocals.
