Any "set up" wizards out there?

I bought a maple neck from an american standard last month and swapped with the rosewood neck on my mexicaster. It has sounded flat and twangy since. Especialy the G string. What are some of the procedures to follow when replacing necks, and how do you set up the bridge?

    Mic brand comparison questions

I'm wanting to buy several more mic's to add to a SP C1 and a SM58. When you think about the Marshall v67, is there anything in Rode's or Audio Technicas's line that's comparable? AT3035 or NT1? AGK C 2000B? What about the Oktava MC 319? Same question for the 603s. Nady CM90? Is Nady another...

    Rusty K's question...and mine, too

I didn't want to muddy the waters on Rusty's thread about CPU usage, but it brought up some questions I've got. I'm running Ntrack with an omni studio on a machine with 1000mhz, 512mb, 60gb 7200rpm drive. Gidge, Slack...when you guys talk about "sub-mix", do you mean record a track, add FX...

Recieved the user codes from Flavio, but...

When I use the compressor that damned window appears telling me the compressor is included with registered version. It mutes the sound every ten seconds for about three seconds. I purchased the full version and the CD for 60 bucks. Is there something else I need to do to prove it to the...

    Rack FX vs Plug ins

I'm starting to look for FX to use with an Omni studio which essentialy is a Delta66. Are there advantages to rack units as opposed to software? I'd like to come up with some rich delays, echo, chorus, and reverbs.

    Source Selection Preamp?

If I run an amp (Hafler or Nady for example) to drive monitors, are there any preamps on the market for selecting source as in CD player, cassette deck, tuner, ect.? I have limited space and would prefer not to have to use a seperate set of speakers and reciever for playback in my studio.

    Question of theory...

When presented with a frequency responce range, I understand what's being referenced: 20-20,000Hz/Low to high frequency. But when I read about a sampling rate I'm lost. "44.1 kHz" or "96kHz" doesn't say anything to me. Can somebody explain? I've got Paul White's Basic Digital Recording but...

    Can I......

I haven't posted any songs here yet and won't until I get my recordings cleaned up a bunch. I've got a few songs I've played with for a couple years that I could use some finish up help on. Mostly pre chorus ideas. Can I just post some lyrics here and see what comes of it? Thanks, Rick

    Signal bleed

Reading thru the setup section, Flavio mentions signal bleed from track to track. Is he refering to bleed from monitors into the next track, or is there some "cross talk" bleed on an electronic level? If so, what's the correction?

Roland Studio Pak just a Toy?

Anybody have any experience with the VM-3100 Pro or the Studio package they put together? Worth while or just another cheap toy like the Peavey/Cakewalk thingie? Can't find a large picture of the interface...does this thing have transport controls as well as mixer functions? Sounds like it has...

    How would you spend $1500?

You've got $1500 and you want to record your acoustic drums, vocals, guitar amp and acoustic. Bass and cheap Yamaha keyboard rounds out your arsenal of instruments in a one man operation. On the recording end let's say all you've got is a 1000Mhz PC with CD burner, large fast HD and gobbs of...

My Conclusions: Tube vs Solid State

Tube vs Solid State IMHO Reading thru Bruce's thread on Tone, I think sometimes we loose focus and unintentionaly enter sort of a word game. Back in May I was looking to replace a Peavey Bandit for recording. I asked about the differences between tube and solidstate amps. Talk about a four...

    Lost Registration Code

I've been moving my studio to a new room in my basement and somewhere in the shuffle I've lost the registration code for 24bit ver2.2. Built a new box and reloaded Ntrack but I'm kinda stuck without the code. Anything I can do besides waiting for Flavio to email me?

    Iomega burner & Nero..

This is really a software issue I guess. I replaced a Creative CDW with an Iomega burner today and installed a version of Nero that came with the Creative. I haven't used either in about nine months and I can't remember what I had to do to copy a song from a CD to a track in Ntracks. I keep...

Still trying to make soundcard choice...

Looking to replace a Darla24. A few lingering questions I have are: If I'm burning songs directly from HDD to internal burner, are S/PDIF I/O's of any use to me? Aren't these generaly used for going to an ADAT or amp with matching I/O? I might be using a digital mixer if that's of any...

    Cheap memory...for what it's worth.

I just recieved 2 256meg sticks of PC133 for $28/ea plus a few bucks for FedX next day. Cheap generic stuff, no doutb manufactured in one of those evil places we've been yacking about lately.
