I recieved four Behringer ECM8000 mics from Musician's Friend.
I just got the chance to test one. Out of the box, unplug SM58 from cable, plug in ECM8000, plug power into Tube MP, start raisng output...........nothing.
Turn down levels, plug in SM58, got normal sound.
Grab 2nd...
Nobody around here seems to like Hosa which I see in most of the catalogs.
What do most of you guys like?
I need a couple 10' XLR for mics. 10' midi for my cheapie keyboard. And some short 1/4" lines for FX sends and returns.
Any basic rules or suggestions?
I touched on this last month but didn't really learn much.
Can someone just basically define by function the following:
Keyboards
Digital Piano
Synthesizer Keyboard
Midi Controller
When I look through catalogs I'm blown away by all the offerings from Alesis, Yamaha, Korg, Roland...
I got my first tube amp earlier in the year (602) and I love the tones coming off my Strat and Jackson.
My LP is another story. The stock pickups make it sound too warm and muddy.
What's a hot pickup I can put on my Xmas list? Something with a little more definition?
I've got several necks and boxes of pickups and hardware.
This winter I'm gonna try my hand at buliding a couple bodies.
Might call it the SG Stratonez Telewing. I dunno.
What are the better woods to use in terms of thick tone and sustain?
On at least one, I want to experiment with a three...
I'm curious whether or not most FX units like S100 or MPX 100 distinguish between the types of signals that are being fed to them. If they handle vocals and guitar signals in real time, then why couldn't you process vocals through a guitar box like a GNX2?
Up for grabs is a new Mapex ProM 5pc kit. Beautiful laquer Cherry Transparent finish. All series hardware included: 1 straight and 1 boom stand, tom holder, snare stand, hihat and kick pedal. Boom and tom holder were extras.
Sabian 802 14" hats, 16" crash and 18" ride.
These have sat since new...
This board's opinion concludes with the C1 and v67 as the economy front runners for vocal/amp mics.
I asked earlier about AT4033 and Oktava 319 but didn't get any solid comparisons to the majority leaders.
Are the C1 and v67 the only favorites among large diaphragm condensors?
There's a lot of...
If you want, take a peek at this thread and see if you wanna help with pre chorus ideas. Didn't get much response back when I posted, maybe folks were in a slump. I am. :D

Set me straight here...
With all the software that's available for midi sounds and voices, what do my concerns need to be when selecting a set of keys?
I don't play piano. I just fake my way threw enough keys to make recordings more interesting.
I've been using one of those cheesy Yamaha...
Before that little ditty I did for Queue (test flight) destroys my reputation as a guy with more that one functioning brain cell, could you please help me delete it? :D
Thanks,
Rick
BTW - Great job on the site! I've got a few real songs almost ready to post. I'll be proud to post them at Nowhere.
And was held up by not having a website? What's the deal? Do I need to list my own website (which I do not have), or can I list this site? I didn't want to do anything without asking.
Help.
Thanks.
Thank God for Rolaids! :D
I just did an 8 track "song" in Ntrack.
I mixed it down to 2 mono tracks.
Saved it again as a wav file but windows media player tells me "improper format" when I try to play it as a wav.
Utimately I want to be able to upload it as a wav or Mp3 so somebody else can use it.
What do I need to do?
I'm looking at the AT4033 that purports to use an "internal open cell wind screen". I'm wondering if this foam screen has the potential of drying with age and becoming a brittle, flaking liability?
Any thoughts sir?
Thanks,
Rick
I've been setting up my studio for 2 years now. Getting a good recording on my drums are the only thing still eluding me. It's a small room at 12 X 13.
I'm playing Mapex ProM's and have tried a boat load of different heads and tunings but can't get the big thump I want out of my toms or the...
