I may be missing something really basic here, but if I'm the only one playing instruments in my studio, is there any point to walling off a separate section for a control room? :confused:

I've used several PCI based "break-out boxes" with a few different software packages like N-track and Power Tracks. Currently I'm using ST Audio's C-Port. I want to move on to a stand-alone box and just use the computer for mastering and tweaking. I'll be recording just myself on guitars, drums...

Are there any stringent do's and don'ts when selecting lighting? Do today's tube lights still buzz electronics from the ballast?

I'm trying to give a lead guitar part kind of a haunted, not-sure-where-it's-coming-from feel amid a "front row" of bass and drums. I might even pan it slowly L to R, but how do I stuff it "way back" in the mix?
