    Guitar pot question

After looking at the schematics, yes, its caused by the grid stop resistor not being there.

    Guitar pot question

Without giving amp examples, it would be because the grid for the tube afterwards don't have what is called the grid stop resistor. So what happens is the grid element, which is a wire loop wrapped around a support frame inside turns into an electromagnet that attracts the heater emissions from...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

I would have to define in in this context to keep this concise, but a well trained technician in a repair shop environment would always check bias after installing tubes. Even if they were the ones that suppose to be the correct ones accordingly to the manufacturer to use. Because even though...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

no, I used Falstad circuit simulator to quickly draw the schematic, then I just screen captured a section of that window.

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

A real tech would just do it and not tell anyone and there is nothing special with modding a simple voltage divider circuit. Even though I think a bias balance circuit as well as the bias voltage adjust circuit should be the standard for fixed bias push-pull tube output circuits. But of course...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

The stock Marshall has a universal transformer with taps for 230, 120V and 100V.

    Transformerless SM58

SM58 and SM57 are really low quality mics that became a standard for live people because most music stores carried them back in the day before internet. They are poor performers for recording and now these days there are better mics to use for live too. Termination resistor mods, I do in mic...

    Electrical Interference Diagnosis

First thing I would ask you is if the basement is carpeted. Because concrete floors make that sound when cable connections are touching them. Also, the mic stand can do this if the pole in the center is touching the concrete floor. As far as electricity, I would get a nicer power supply. I would...

Question: Is a 30-watt amp head going into a 2x12 cab good enough for medium-sized gigs?

Its not really a tube brand more than finding ones with a certain gain characteristic. Which is always been the downside to a non-adjustable fixed bias circuit. Just like Mesa Boogie amps. They market a set of tubes for them they selected so that they would work with that bias voltage. So when...

Does anyone know how to use fl?

Other than setting up custom hotkey processes, the first thing to learn to do is turn off the daw monitoring so it doesn't echo.

USB Extender over Ethernet vs. Active USB cable

usb port was put to sleep but hardware is not re-initializing on wake. Its a flaw that is OS related to sleep wake mode not keeping the usb devices connected but in "ejected" state. Try in a console terminal: sudo pmset disksleep 0 sudo pmset sleep 0 sudo pmset autopoweroff 0

    "Takes EQ well"...hmmm?

It all depends on what you have and there are good sounding mics for different things and you don't have to be an electronics engineer like me to modify them. Granted, there are a few $30-$50 that would compare with the expensive mics once certain parts are changed out. But there are a lot of...

M-Audio 24/96 audiophile sound card for lap top?

For the price of an expansion box that would do that would land you in a better interface range. Its better to consider an SSL 2+

USB Extender over Ethernet vs. Active USB cable

I have noticed people mentioning having to re-plug thunderbolt stuff. That is why I haven't pulled the trigger on a few stuff that is thunderbolt based.

USB Extender over Ethernet vs. Active USB cable

if midi is transmitted in the standard format, theoretically you can cable it to a 500 ft run. since it is 10V serial.

USB Extender over Ethernet vs. Active USB cable

KVM console extenders start around $450 but I doubt the could handle an audio interface. Midi wouldn't be an issue. Because most won't do beyond 10Mbps. Dante doesn't get expensive until you start wanting monitoring from it which is the same situation if you want computer monitoring to/from USB...

    Confused about audio setup (mic+piano/keyboard)

Its works well with condenser mics like the AT2020 because the mic pre is loading the microphone at mid impedance (3K) which is the low noise loading range of that mic. However, dynamic mics don't fair well with it. So it depends on what you intend to record and what with.

Mix it - Burning Witches (metal/crossover) - Mix it

Its not bad, it just needs some "zaz" what I used to say. Which means it needs to take the listener on the adventure and It takes some time with production and trail and error. Like the intro could be a little bit more dramatic. First time I heard something like this was when I visited a long...

    Typical bedroom hobbyist mix

I think its because of the drums, they sound like generic. Mix is slightly boring mono like a Terry Date mix.

Mix it - Burning Witches (metal/crossover) - Mix it

Just by listening to your track it sounds like a thrown together song rather than a produced composition. But a lot of these song lack production now these days. And even ones that get produced are not that great. Because they sound like a Terry Date flat mix. Which quite frankly, I think he...
