    Fig 8 Drum Room Mic

Drums is my favorite thing to track. The thing I've learned is how much the room matters and small spaces sound....small. The only times I was ever happy with room mics, the room was large. All my basement room mic experiences I didn't like. Your Mileage May Very.

Here's a cheap experiment. Take a Sm57 and point it at one of the side walls. Like twoo inches off the wall and crush it with a compressor.

Looks like clipping but still, check all the settings in both your DAW and your interface to confirm all parameters match. Sampling rate, bit depth...

Newbie to Drum Recording! Tom mics and overheads without breaking the bank?!

Here in St Louis we have a chain called Music Go Round. All second hand gear. GREAT bargains on all kinds of gear but you have to keep your ear to the ground. My go to mics for toms are AKG C-3000's. I see them there used for less than $100. In a pinch, I'd use them as overheads but only in a pinch.

    Interface Upgrade?

If the ribbon gain is your issue, try a Cloud Lifter or any of other pre-preamps. I have and R10 but in front of an amp so gain ain't an issue with me. I have an 1820 as well but it's not my primary interface.

    Crackling.clipping noise in recordings

Check the sampling rate on everthing. The DAW and interface has to be set at the same sampling rate or shit happens.

Merry Christmas my friends. Like I'm short on stringed instruments, so I gifted myself another Tele. Double bound, flamed rosewood fingerboard. I like Tele's

Anyone have hands on experience with the Kaotica EyeBall? What's it made of? How much isolation? Inquiring minds want to know.
