It just takes a bit of time sitting back man. I feel you may have been overthinking stuff. Down the wormhole...

Where have all the acoustic drums gone ?

I suppose it comes down to availability of a good room and what it is one is looking for. I have a fairly large room that is treated just for acoustic drums. That being said, I am also enhancing them with samples. SSD Trigger 2 with many sample packs, that I suppose would be a blend of...

    Recording violin

I am thinking of strapping a ribbon to the top of her head with gaffers tape, and using the overhead KSM's for the room, and maybe an LDC in front.... LOL Thanks for all of the input guys! I suppose it is just going to be one of those trial/error things. Never met the player, or heard the...

    Recording violin

Luckily, this is really just an accent part for a 'John Denver' type of pop tune for a client. It's not a solo violin type of thing. Cello would work better for the song, but this will be fun. I just have never had the opportunity to record a violin. Thanks to all of you for the advice! 8-) ?

Two Mixes I am working on.

I totally dig the tunes man! I get a sense that the guitars and pretty much everything seems really distant on the first track. Pie sounds better, but then there the drums don't seem to be up front. I'm not exactly sure what it is you are going for here, so I guess I can't give more than my...

    Sound absorbtion panels

I missed the attaching part. You can also use thin brad nails or long thumb tacks if you don't want to mess up the walls. It's kinda janky tho... I'm not sure how packro was thinking of using the 'command strips' but that seems an option as well.

    Sound absorbtion panels

They will tame high frequency reflections to a degree. And maybe they look cool. Place them at first reflection points from what you are trying to tame. Meaning, from the point you are sitting, think how a mirror would give your reflection back or bounce off of other walls. Same with areas you...

    Mixing Meter

I am not sure how using a spectrum analyzer would help a mix. It's one thing to visually see a problem area, but in a full mix there can build up of certain frequencies from multiple instruments that can do things like cause muddiness and lack of clarity. That is not something that a spectrum...
