Compensating for one's normal age-related high-frequency hearing loss...

I'm 55 and don't really have an issue. I have substantial hearing loss from decades of live performances and just age. I think once you are trained and have experience mixing, your brain just compensates to some degree. If things are recorded properly, you just know you don't need to pull up the...

Can anyone help me with volume automation options?

Looks like Audition has 'Clip Gain'. I would start with visually chopping up the vocal and levelling out the obvious before getting into automation. Automation can get messy really fast. And if the levels are really out of whack, a compressor/limiter isn't likely going to work the way you are...

20-year-old Tannoy Reveals - should I replace them?

Yeah man, keep em. If similar to my active blue ones, they are very clear in the mids though lacking in low end. But you have a sub for that. I moved to the Adam A7X that I use mostly for mixing, but like Rob stated it did take a while to get used to them. I still go to the Tannoys for...

Got some great takes, but the levels are too low. Best way to fix?

Sup guys! Yeah, I can't say I have ever used 'Normalize' ever other than one time I was transferring cassettes to CD for a buddy. Seems like a pain when you can just pull a slider or input a value. Anyway, to each their own. Presonus Studio One is very similar to Cubase. 'Clip Gain' is the...

what does a license mean when purchase a beat

Read 4c. In layman's terms that means you don't have to give credits or royalties. You are paying that in advance by purchasing the license. But, then there is karma. If you wish to give credit then you may do so. But not legally required to.

polyphonic tuning in Melodyne 5 Assist (vs. monoph. Essentials)

Yes, poly is for instruments. It can tune individual notes in a chord. And yes you will always want to pitch correct individual vocal tracks in monophonic mode. Looks like you will soon understand once ya get to using Melodyne. :giggle:

    Parallel compression A/B level matching

Awesome! Glad you got it to work for you. I bet once you understand what it is you are getting from parallel compression, you wont need to do that again. 8-)

    Monitor Speakers From Phones Socket?

Ha! I think everyone owns one of those. I use one to run PA system in my control room when live tracking. Another one in my drum room for stick slingers own mix. They do the job well for little $$. (y)

    Parallel compression A/B level matching

I guess you could place a limiter on the third bus, but then you are altering the signal to get to the volume match. Not sure I can think of a way man. Just gotta use your ears in that case. Other than exporting both separately and changing the gain on the mixed one to compare - or manually...

    Parallel compression A/B level matching

Not sure I know of a way. I am more curious as to why you are wanting that? I typically just send the drums 'kick/tom/snare' to a second group channel, squash the shit out of them, then pull the fader up to taste. It's always going to raise the level by combining them. I also send my...

How to split a guitar cable signal into two (inexpensively)?

    Vhorns saxaphone

The short answer is yes to the first two questions. Not having the software, no clue on how it sounds. What version of Cubase do you have?
