    No Sound!

I am not familiar with Ableton specifically, but you just need to somewhere in the particular software/DAW, select the input device (MIDI) and then tell whatever VSTI you are using where to find the information. It may likely be an input track that you haven't 'armed' to record. It depends upon...

Questions about signal ratio, audio interfaces and garageband...

Just to add a bit here, your input levels on the interface/preamp, you do want to have adequate signal going in. With any preamp, the theory is that you do want the most signal in for the preamp before clipping and distortion. If you are increasing the gain of a weak preamp to compensate for a...

How to correctly connect balanced XLR to unbalanced stereo AUX on headphones amp

Nope, it was more for hum elimination now that I think about it. Behri Hum Destroyer I had similar noise from computer in an early setup between two computers input through a monitor controller. Balanced cables solve it. But if you don't have the ability, I bet the guys above are giving the...

How to correctly connect balanced XLR to unbalanced stereo AUX on headphones amp

Behringer makes such a box. I used it all the time between my PA sytem and separate mixer for cranking stuff up. Worked great! I gotta find it to show you exactly, but it is something like a 'noise eliminator'. I'll be back.

Avocet Crane Song ii Monitoring Controller - Is it worth it?

What is your budget, and what are you monitoring with in your home studio? I ask, because I would surely place that much money on the before mentioned before spending the funds on simple switching...

One track alters the other with audio warp! why??

If you can't find an option in Preferences, then you may need to trash them so Cubase creates the default set. There is one in Editing>Audio>On Processing Shared Clips that might do the trick. Not sure though. Good luck!

    Need help fixing some tracks...

As far as I know, tape emulation plugs add distortion. Whatever that means. If you are feeling there is harshness with the vocal, then take those back or out and see what results. Funny thing I have learned over the years, is that less is more....

    Need help fixing some tracks...

Yeah, I don't think I have ever used a plugin other than a compressor twice in any chain ever. One could only assume there could be some conflicting artifacts by doing so. I get what the OP is saying, but all I hear is that something aint right. Can't put my finger on it though other than the...

    Need help fixing some tracks...

I don't hear anything that should cause headaches, that is likely just you being over critical of your own voice. I do hear an imbalance. Vocals in my opinion are too loud without a bit of air (verb) to place them smoothly in the mix. With them coming down, the next thing I would address is...

    Question about Mineral Wool

Oh my, don't let WWLaidback see this or it could turn into another worthless political nerf footbal. ... lol! From what I have learned in my research, is that as long as any carcinogenic material is contained, then it is not an issue. That being said, it is hard to trust facts these days when...

A question about the audio waveform

Right! And with EDM or any dance or most rap for clubs, it does not seem to be a flat waveform, because the kick/beat is what is prominent. If you tried to bring the rest of the instruments to that needed pulse, it would just be a squashed mess with that 'sucking out' feeling that any brain does...

A question about the audio waveform

Dynamics are gone when you over compress and squash the life out of anything. It sounds un-natuaral and hurts my ears to hear the compressed version. Do you not hear that?

    Question about Mineral Wool

From what I have found and understand, the polyester stuff is in testing is not worth the cost, nor the performance abilities. I suppose if you wish to work in a hospital environment , then you must. The data even supplied by manufacturers of this type of product shows that it is not good for...

    Question about Mineral Wool

From what I understand, higher weight/density rockwool can be good for low end absorption, but at the expense of high end reflectivity above 1000hz. Seems that thicker low density products like the pink fluffy, require more depth, but result in better broadband control and even lower frequency...

Not available for store pick up?

That's really cool man! I have a curious question unrelated to the thread point. Why do the drums all seem to be late? I am getting the feel that all other tracks are rushed, or there is some type of latency going on here. with the drum track.

    "Betrayed By The Cheese"

Ok, well I will separate myself from the cheese assignation with haste.. Not even sure what that means. lol Love the vibe here! I do feel a separation from the guitar and the rhythm section. Meaning that the low end doesn't seem to be punching as it should. Overall it sounds great. Only...

Age - when does it become a problem?

There is a line between what is a good mix and a bad mix. The problem is, the line is likely as wide as the Atlantic ocean. The greatest factor to me is the song and artist/s itself. Great songs are what they are and are good because of the song, and not so much the recording itself. Would you...
