    Tascam porta one playback issues

Pulling on head wires is never a good idea and you found out one reason why. This is never a good idea no matter what the deck. I did not know the price of the last term so I don't see how sex has anything to do with alignment tapes.

How to remove tape from Tascam 246 that is stuck in play position?

If you do have logic problems I feel sorry for you as the two boards they jammed in there will be hard to work on. The parts are probably not hard to get. Like I said, I may have suspected logic but it always turned out to be a minor mechanical issue.

Tascam 246 Tape Head Stuck in Play/Record Position

I am sure I have had this kind of problem in the hundred or so that came in. I fixed them all and this is why you get made Lead Technician besides good numbers of production and few or no recalls (those units coming back). In some cam systems there is a part that links the pot to the cam gear...

Tascam 246 Tape Head Stuck in Play/Record Position

OK, The problem you have is the cam system- either a belt or that the feedback pot is dirty. In all the years I have never had a logic problem on a Portastudio. The headphones on some stuff is cheaped out as on a Tascam 122. What did they use? A speaker amp with 40dB of gain wide open and only...

Tascam M520 - Have a second meter bridge - How to use

I would not try and upset the power supply in the mixer as the transformer and all the way down is designed for what is in the mixer only. I would apply a separate power supply with Molex connectors and then kind of use the meter bridge in a stand alone configuration with external RCA signals...

How to remove tape from Tascam 246 that is stuck in play position?

A serviced deck working like it is suppose to never does this- you have one worked on by a hack. Start at 0 and do the whole job again IF it ever was done in the first place. on my bench I have put the machine through hundreds of operation as calibration is done- never a damaged tape.

Tascam 246 Tape Head Stuck in Play/Record Position

When a person sells something as serviced, you need to ask who did the service and most the time it is fraud and they just want your money. What kind of warranty did they offer as a serviced deck should have a warranty- mine is 6 months.

How to remove tape from Tascam 246 that is stuck in play position?

Let me know if you get it out that should be a way to get to the deck. I am messaging the friend I have made in Moscow. You never know when a new friend will show up.

    Tascam M-208 for Otari MX5050?

One may think a Mackie board is a deal until something breaks- they do not fix them as they are considered throw away. The Tascam boards can be fixed so the question is how many boards do you want to buy over time. The Mackie are made in China with their wonderful parts- anything you break on...

Tascam 246 wiggly input jack repair?

The problem with these jacks is usually the broken solder joints due to too little solder applied. They made these cheaply not to high end standards. You can try and put a threaded in connector but you need to consider all the dimensions they need to fit into. The #8 clip part is a cheap...

    Tascam DX-2D DX-4D Calibration

IF you are going to play around with the encode and decode trimmers this would be the time to get the Bourns Cermet Trimmer so that the levels stay where they are set. I would be very careful not to mess around with the other trimmers as it takes equipment that I don't even have to work on...

    Tascam m320 hybrid setup

If you have two 8 channel interfaces you should be set- I don't get involved so much with set ups as I am mainly a repair person so Sweetbeats may be the best to listen to in this case. You can not do better that someone who has done what you are asking about.

    New Mixer For Tascam 388

Well a much better mixer is the M50 and that would make for a much larger foot print. The M512 is about the same as a M50 except for a couple of master pots that were changed. Either way the M500 mixers will be needed to get the 8 buses you need but do you really need 8 busses? Maybe a M320 will...

TASCAM 238 ......is this machine about to have problems?

There are private people in the UK that are technically qualified but you need to find them by connecting with a group they are on. The big problem is the need for the MXT test tapes as when you work on these you need to calibrate the speed not with a 440Hz signal but the MXT111 which right now...

TASCAM 238 ......is this machine about to have problems?

Many a person who contact me due to distance and the problem they have to fix the machine on the spot. I had a 122 Mk II in the Mal Dives that I helped the guy fix over the phone. At the end I had to ask where is the Mal Dives then on a World Map I found it. Not likely the guy would be able to...

    424 PINCH ROLLER PROBLEM

NO Ammonia is used to clean up old belt residue and I think it will dissolve the rubber. Is the rubber soft and mushy? What I do is measure the width and bearing size and diameter and go to Marian site and order up a couple of roller that size. None of them have metal bearings in them so Terry...

    424 PINCH ROLLER PROBLEM

I use Naphtha and Denatured to clean these. I don't know what is in the Caikleen. A clean pinch roller should not make noise as a new pinch roller will not- there has to be something going on there- the bearing of the roller might need some oil if the cleaning agent washed it all out. It depends...

TASCAM 238 ......is this machine about to have problems?

The problem with motor boards is that people go to the first level and say if they do not fix it that way then they give up. We had tons of mistakes made by all kinds of people in trying to get to the Moon but we finally did it without giving up. One of the things people skip is the C2...
