Trying to get a great acoustic guitar tone, help please?

Indeed, the Genelecs get a good rep here, https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/genelec-8020a especially for very decent bass so long as you don't go for defenstration, MORE than enough poke for acoustic guitar. I would defer all decisions re spends until you have the speakers properly setup...

Trying to get a great acoustic guitar tone, help please?

Ey up George! Just played your recording and TBQH I can find very little wrong with it. Now, you might not think much of MY opinion once I tell you that I am clinically deaf, have aids but don't need them for music. I do have some experience of acoustic (and classical) guitar since my son has...

    An inexpensive recorder for keyboards

Check the manual for a "factory reset" normally achieved by holding one or more buttons down whilst powering up. Dave.

Some devices require a USB drive (or SD card) to be formatted to a specific protocol before it can be used but I would expect that to be prominently displayed in the manual. Dave.

    Initializing an SSD.

The computer I upgraded I did build myself. Asus MOBO with an AMD 6core 3.5G with 10G of ram. I bought a 32 and 64 bit proper Ms disc set, over 100quid. My problem was I could never download a W10 ISO file. The guys that sorted it ran into the same problem but they fixed it! Dave.

    Initializing an SSD.

A few observations? I found upgrading a W7 PC to W10 (way too old for 11) to be an almost impossible task but then found a service that "said" they could do it by taking over my PC and doing the install. Naturally I was VERY wary but since the PC had a virgin SSD fitted, i.e zero personal data...

    Hum on mixer...

No mystery really, that ADAT box has a 3 pin IEC mains input therefore it is "grounded" and so is its inertal audio. There might be a "Ground Lift" switch on it but I doubt it. You therefore need to break the audio screens between ADAT and the other gear. That means making up cables with the...

    Initializing an SSD.

I suppose, if you are buying a new laptop you can usually specify the drive size you want? If you go for 1 or 2 TBs then I guess it is worth creating a separate partition for storage? But if you can ensure the machine will take a second SSD then you can save a few bob and have a 256G say "C"...

    Initializing an SSD.

Is the computer in question a laptop? Does it perchance have an optical drive? If so, you can buy a slide in caddy for under $10 that takes an SSD and gives you a second hard drive in the lappy. I have done this for this Lenovo because the CD never worked reliably and I have others. These days...

    Initializing an SSD.

Yeah, wasn't drivers" that were the crux of my point more that I wonder why Windows doesn't see the drive then give you options as to how you want to use it? It does for other things. SOMETIMES! It says "Recommended" and/or gives dire warnings if you stray from the true path! But then it is all...

    Initializing an SSD.

But why? I have been forking about with various wi fi dongles this last 3 weeks and whenever I plug in a fresh one Windows says "found new hardware, installing drivers". WTF can't it do similar for a drive? Dave.

https://uk.crucial.com/support/articles-faq-ssd/initialize-ssd-windows Looks like you are right ^ but I have never done that. Mind you the last SSD I fitted was about 3 months ago to a D top and just installed Windows 7 on it* Ac cording to that Crucial link that meant Initialization was done...

    Narrowing Down a new Interface

Is it measureable? If you check that SoS site the ID48 uses a C connector but is a USB 2.0 device as most AIs are. Dave.

Ah, now you are getting into 'operational' matters where your actual use of the gear is involved. Do you want to record two separate "stereo" sources? If so you will need to unplug one to connect the other. Therefore one pair of cables will suffice? Yes, you could have two sets coming from each...

    Narrowing Down a new Interface

", USB C which you must have to use it" Don't think so Mr P? My M4 has USB C but works fine* from a USB 2.0 port, in fact there are very few AIs that actually NEED USB 3.0+ speed. The Mk5 does need the power supply which is mentioned in the review as a slight 'con' but I think 99.9% of the time...

First off, the 204 has a very positive switch at the back for phantom power, if you are really worried whack a bit of Gaffer over it! Secondly, in nearly 20 years of messing with AIs and wee mixers with 48V I have NEVER found a device which could "accidentally activate phantom power" I doubt...

Oh! Don't remember that. Anyway I have tried Traktion moons ago and didn't like the MO. I prefer "linear, tape and mixer emulating DAWs" like Samplitude and Reaper. Audacity is fine but it does not support ASIO drivers, has very little MIDI implementation and saves natively to its own format but...
