    Isn't It lonely (Mix/song thoughts)

Generally I thought it sounded good. Great harmonies. I little too much reverb for me on the lead vocal and rhythm guitars. The guitars are competing a little too much with the vocal. Just a bit. The bass is covering the kick. Again, just a bit. All of this is minor stuff. It sounded...

    Beat the Bastards

Love the energy. Guitars sound great. Bass is good. Drums are fine. Vocal is very dry. Not that it should have heavy reverb. But maybe just a bit more than you have here. Harmony vocal in the chorus would be cool. Vocal and lead guitar levels (especially the lead guitar) levels could...

    More than a Lover

After hearing that AI generated voice last week, is the vocal here AI?

    Forgotten Melody - Demo

Wow they sound pretty realistic - with a bunch of Autotune. Now AI needs to do minor pitch wavering and vibrato. But that was interesting.

New Original Song: A Grand Parade by Chthonic Black

I might shorten the length of the intro just a bit. Good guitar playing. Lot's of good energy. The guitars are loud in the mix. They're also a bit hot in the mid-2Ks I think. The bass is hard to hear. Most of the time the vocals are hard to hear. They rise in level in some spots. And in...

    "Crimson Rain"

Guitars sound good. I like the way you used delay in spots. Drums sound fine. Keyboard part is cool - it could probably come up a db or two. Vocals are a little buried - maybe intentionally? Honestly the performance doesn't sound all that bad to me. Lead guitar tone is nice.

    Manslick - Come on

Bass sounds real nice. The lo-fi vocal eventually grew on me. The acoustic guitar sounded nice. The toms really jump out frequently and could use some 600hz pulled out. Some of the cymbals are a little to crispy. If it's a two mic setup, I'm not sure how much you can do. The guitar solo...

    "Fallin'"

So do you think the paper-towel effect might be caused by the location in which you were recording? Or maybe the mic? And yeah things are good here. Hope you're well too.

Imitation Road - Song / Mix critique

Cool vibe to the song. I like the clean rhythm guitar on the right. Oh, it's on the left too. At least in spots. Synths are cool. Bass is a bit too forward in the mix. Maybe the kick too. Snare is a bit far back. The heavy reverb on the vocal makes it difficult to hear the lyrics in...

    "Fallin'"

I like the song. I like the guitar parts and how they play off of each other. Nice harmonies. The guitar on the right sounds especially nice. There are some effects on the vocal so I can't be sure - but it sounds like that paper-towel-tube vocal problem is gone. It took me a while, but I...

    Indian Dream (remastered)

Nice clarity on the guitars. Excellent and tasteful playing. Every once in a while some of the acoustic guitars give off a little brassy note or two. I wonder if you could add (back?) a few low mids? Just to warm them up a little.

    Out of Control

I liked the finger snaps with the 3-second reverb in the intro. Mixwise I think things sound pretty good. I have a little trouble making out some of the lyrics. The lead vocal can be a bit harsh. Maybe tame the mid-2Ks a little? The acoustic guitars in the middle break have a bit too much...

    Sincerity

The guitar on the left is a bit too bright to me. Cool part. Vocals are a bit harsh - hot in the mid-2Ks. Some pitch problems. Great clarity tho. The mix leans slightly to the left. There isn't enough stuff on the right to balance that guitar out.

    The Flying Dutchman

I like the big reverb. I don't usually like that stuff, but it worked well here. Guitars sound good, but they're back in the mix. Bass sounds good, but is a bit too high in the mix. Vocals have some pitch problems. Not a big fan of the snare and kick sounds. Hats are real high in the mix...

For the audiophiles and tech geeks ;)

The second mix really improves the kick. I like the guitar sound on the right. The guitar on the left could maybe use a little more high end and/or a little less low end. But they both sound pretty good as they are. The bass is a little sterile sounding - like it was scooped in the 500-600hz...

    Sacred Cow

Individually the sounds of everything are cool. But everything is fighting for space. The vocals are competing with the guitars. The bass and kick are competing for low end. The guitars are fighting each other. etc. There also a bit of a low end rumble problem.

A flat Funk Boogie -Final instrumental mix-

Great playing. I'd wait for a vocal to do much commenting. But what is there so far sounds really good. I like that edge-of-breakup guitar near the center.

    Beg & Heal (mastered)

I probably wouldn't do anything after mastering. But this one doesn't need anything. It sounds great.

"The Reason" - Learnt some new techniques this week and applied to it

The instruments sound nice. The vocal sound nice and rich. There is a high end sibilance to it that's pretty bad. Vocal might be just a bit low in the mix - just a db or less. I heard that thing at 2:44 too (more like 2:47 on my system). Some other spots. But it sort of fits the genre...

    Nothing Remains

The levels sound good to me now. Don't know if you can replace the midi sounds or not. Still not thrilled with the snare. I guess we'll agree to disagree on the harmonica reverb. :)
