Ha - It worked! "Unfit for Consumption"

My issue with mastering these days is that it's often just one more person sticking their finger in the pie. It's become "I'll make it sound good" which translate to "I'll make it sound the way I like". I once watch a video where someone sent a song to 5 different MEs and got back 5 totally...

It's not that MS is trying to slow things down. There's a big difference between the days of MSDOS/Win3.1 and today. Back then you ran one program, maybe two. Graphics were primitive. Now, you can have 5 windows going at the same time, cranking out audio and video that is far beyond...

That should be fine. Those mini PCs are basically a laptop system without the display and keyboard. The processor is roughly equal to a Core I5-14400 which is plenty powerful. I run Reaper on a 4th Gen I5 and it does great. As long as you don't need the portability of the laptop, it...

We had smaller ones locally, but the biggie was the Dayton Microcomputer Association's Computerfest. There were 2 each year in the late 90s and early 00s. It covered the entire Hara Arena and Expo Center in Dayton OH, and you could also go to Hamfest which is a huge event. We would have...

    You Get me Right

Sadly, that's a fact of life these days. There seem to be two types of songs that are popular today, the ballad like this, or the straight up rap with no melody. Of the two, I'll take this. In this style you have Tate McRae, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish and a host of others. Subvibe...

Repairing a hissy, crackly VHT Special 6 Ultra

The fact that the noise changes when you roll down the tone control and roll the volume means that the problem is before the volume and tone stack, which rules out the power tube. I suspect that V101 (12AX7) or possibly one of the capacitors or resistors is bad. They need to check the...

It's posts like this that make me laugh about how much things have changed. 2 days ago, I was cleaning up a bunch of stuff in the basement and came across a receipt for memory I bought in 2000. Two 64MB of PC100 memory, and it only cost me $180!!!! You got the best deals at computer shows...

Porterhouse, If you're just doing mixing, you can get by with a lower spec machine. However, I would check to see what upgrade options are available for any laptop. These days, one of the cost cutting measures is to eliminate memory slots, and extra NVMe slots. My Lenovo has an extra...

You can grab a USB Nano wifi adapter for under £10. My old Dell desktop started to drop offline, and I grabbed one off Amazon. It picked up the speed, since it supported 5GHz and the new safety protocols.

    My Discography. Free.

OK, I didn't download the file, but I went to your Soundcloud page and pulled up about a dozen tracks. To put it simply, I don't get it! Sorry to sound so negative. I really cant call them "songs". To me they just sound like random sounds strung together. I can't think of an instance...

    Is it possible

This would be an example of recording with Reaper. Kenny has an entire collections of videos demonstrating almost every aspect of Reaper.

    Is it possible

The simplest path will be to get a basic recording setup. Computer, audio interface, DAW software (digital audio workstation), a microphone or two and a pair of speakers and headphones to monitor the signal will be the basic starting point for most people. The DAW software is the core of...

    Korg D-3200

:giggle: I'm not likely to be buying a 20 yr old machine for a recorder or drum tracks. I've already got 2 Yamahas and a Zoom, plus my computer setup. I could never get into programming drum tracks on the recorders. I've got MT PowerDrumKit, which is great for assembling drum tracks from a...

    Korg D-3200

Have you watched any of the videos on Youtube? Surely there is something there that can get you going. I don't know the Korg, but it sounds like you simply need to know how to get to basic functions to add EQ and reverb to the monitor mix, which are going to be the typical functions found in...

    Adele

I'm sure it was a great concert, but I much prefer a more intimate setting. 2000 seats or so seems about perfect. 20,000 is getting a bit much for me. 65.000 and I'll take a pass. It's nice to be able to see the performer without needing 50x binoculars!

    Zoom R16.

I haven't used any 64GB cards in my system. I wonder if that's the problem. I don't know the exact spec differences between SDXC and SDHC, but there may be a difference in how the data is written. Its something to look at. Try an SDHC card. 16GB would be plenty. 4 hours at 24bit / 8...

    Headphones…

Those will work, but you can't adjust levels separately. Last week, when I was with friends playing, we had 3 different types of headphones and the levels were all different on the headphone amp. For $20, its money well spent.

Using the USB for midi shouldn't make a difference vs the interface. Midi signals should be handled separately from audio signals, and I'm guessing that with the Mac, you can easily set up the USB Midi to feed to your DAW. Midi signals are not audio. The audio signals are from the...
