I'm really trying to figure out how to go about setting up (lynx hilo 2 thunderbolt 3 )with my equipment..I've tried reading the manuel but I don't understand all the fancy technical terms of the audio recording world...I've just recently got into upgrading my audio gear... before I just had a babyface pro..a pc..daw and a mic..which was fairly easy for me to get started...right now I'm running a.. (rok box mc x pro pc with thunderbolt 4)...neve 1076spx mic pre...tubetech cl1b comp..Neumann u87 mic...any help would be appreciated

Might I suggest you contact Lynx? Such a high end audio company SHOULD have a highly motivated team of people ready to help their customers IMHO.
I am "slumming it" with a MOTU M4 but the guys there are super helpful (and, has to be said, NI not so much!)

If they are not willing to guide you through the setup maybe ditch the Hilo 2 and buy RME? You will never notice an audible difference anyway.

As ever I am going to mention soundonsound.com I know for instance they have reviewed the Hilo.

Is it really the Hilo that is the problem or have you just not got the basic skills of music Tec? Tell us what you are struggling with and we can certainly help. However, with your gear being many people’s wish list, maybe spending a little on a local to come and help you get going will be very good value for money. Social media is very good for finding people recommendations

Honestly the hilo is not the problem it's me for sure...I don't know squat about all this technical audio jargon... im really trying to learn but it's greek to me.. I think I really got the mixing and mastering side of things down. I've been mixing n mastering my own music for years "in the box". I use to struggle with mixing n mastering but recently my mixes have been translating well on other systems.. I think I got a good flow going there..I mean for sure they could use work but over all as of right now im happy with my mixes ...where my problem lies is the knowledge of outboard gear I spent so much time on learning to mix n master in the box..that I am now starting to purchase a bit of outboard gear n honestly I'm really starting from the bottom in this section of audio recording..right now I just I want to setup the lynx hilo 2 for tracking vocals..I just want to make sure I go about it the right way..from my research on setting up my chain it would be

Mic into preamp into compressor into hilo 2 into pc via thunderbolt 3? Is that correct

And yes I have reached out trying to pay someone locally to help me but I live in a really small town and no one I have reached out to has budged

Well. K.I.S.Sir, forget the compressor for now. What mic into what preamp? And feed the pre amp into line inputs on the Lynx. I assume you have got the Hilo to playback stuff? DAW?

Start at the first part... is the HIlo showing up in Windows as a Thunderbolt device and have you installed the driver?

From the Lynx page:
Windows

If you have not already installed the Thunderbolt driver, you will need to do so to allow the Thunderbolt device to be seen by the operating system. For Windows 10, the Thunderbolt driver can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. For other versions of Windows, the Thunderbolt driver can be downloaded from the motherboard manufacturer's web site or from the Intel web site using the Intel driver & support assistant.

When the Hilo-TB or -TB3 is first powered up after connecting to the computer, a screen similar to the one below will appear:

ThunderboltNewDevice.png

Once the device is loaded, then you need to load the Lynx driver:

Please select "Always Connect" then clock "OK" to proceed.

Windows and Macintosh

Next, download and install the latest Thunderbolt driver from the Lynx Website. When the installer completes, reboot the computer if prompted. Please Note: The installer will also install the Lynx Mixer.

If you haven't done those, you need to start at the beginning. Follow the instructions on the Lynx webpage.

Yes I connected hilo via thunderbolt but I never got the new thunderbolt device pop up prompt so I skipped it and just went straight to downloading the driver I followed the steps I am hearing playback but the volume is low even if I crank the phone volume..I mean its audible but to low for me

Nevermind I figured it out..I got one more question.. I have a lynx e44 pcie sound card is there a way I can connect hilo 2 directly to the e44 pcie and bypassing the thunder bolt connection?

According to the spec on their website, that would be a no. I am not sure what on earth you are hoping to achieve and you seem to be a very untypical lynx customer. Asking around one of their strong points is customer care, so ai am mystified why you dont just speak to the, as they pride themselves on support. You have got two excellent products but they are quite limited in their design philosophy, fitting an exact and specific need. With a product like these, why would you even want to connect the hilo to the interface? The care and attention they pay to accurate clocking and data stability would offer zero benefit, surely? You said you sorted the thunderbird issue, so you are done, aren‘t you?

Yes I have been trying to reach out to lynx via email n phone..I've called tech support multiple times but no answer...and they never got back to me though email...and yes I got everything running smoothly with the hilo...I was just asking the question about the lynx e44 pcie card because I was testing the hilo against the e44 card on a big project im mixing with mutiple tracks vts etc.. and I noticed that the e44 card can take more load then the hilo 2..both at a buffer setting of 2048 ...I get clicks n pops with hilo 2 and with the e44 card it's smooth sailing..so I was just wondering if there was a way I can use my e44 card for heavy loads but still utilize the hilo for its amazing sound..

In all my years I have NEVER adjusted a buffer size. I know how to, but it's never been necessary if the computer is relatively modern. I'm guessing you've not got the correct driver, or it's not being picked up by the software correctly. I cannot believe something so expensive has any issues - the snag would be the computer end, and most problems are drivers. Your interfaces are also not working hard as their input and output count is very low.
