I couldn't seem to find any info on the bbs about shure BG mics. I was thinking about buying the Shure BG4.1 small d. condenser to use for micing a live banjo. Does any one here use these mics? Any comments? Thanks

Yeah, I owned one a while back when I was just starting out with my acoustic guitar and a analog four track cassette recorder. To be honest, it wasn't at all shoddy--it was quite decent & even more honestly I wish I had hung onto it just for the battery operation ability! The BG 4.1 is being discontinued from what I understand and being replaced by another entry level Shure series [forget the name at the moment]. Hope this helps you?:)

thanks for your reply. I actually had to by one yesterday so our band could practice. I agree... not bad for the the price. Good for live sound...it is not to sesitive...and it's good for the banjo because it is a tad bass heavy. Thanks Ned

I had a BG 3.0 dynamic that I preferred for my voice over my 58 and 57. Sounded great live. Unfortunately, the BG series aren't as roadworthy, or at least this one wasn't, as a SM series. It lasted a long time, and now it rests, innards detatched from body, peacefully in my mic bin.

A moment of silence please....
...well, I guess silence is all I'll get out of it now anyway;)

Pete
