I'm looking for software that would emulate a Bass Guitar Pre-Amp. Anybody know of such software?

I haven't seen any software that emulates a bass preamp. It takes some kind of hardware to get a good signal for either bass or guitar. However, ReValver is a guitar amp plug in that has preamps you could use on bass. Steinberg's Warp VST is another guitar amp simulator that should be released soon. There are also other plug ins out there designed for bass sounds, though they don't necessarily emulate a bass preamp. New stuff is being released all the time, so there may be something like this soon. However, if you want to record bass direct, you might ultimately find that something like the Sans Amp Bass Driver is the way to go...This is a stomp box for recording bass direct..It sounds great ; it has an XLR output and will run off phantom power, or you can use the 1/4" and batteries, or power supply. Line6 makes the bass Pod another hardware direct box which has bass amp and cabinet modelling. But if you're looking to stick to software, there may be something else out there that you can use...Depends on what you are doing.

glad to help.....there is a demo available, and if you happen to use cakewalk stuff, you might be able to get a discount on it...a light version of ReValver comes with Sonar, and perhaps with some other Cakewalk sequencers.

if you are planning to use the preamps alone, you might find ReValver a little tricky in that there are certain rules you have to use in building a 'rig'...for example you have to have certain items in the chain...however, if you click on any device you can bypass it, so that it will leave your sound unaffected....e.g., if ReValver forces you to use a power amp after a preamp, you can bypass the power amp, so that it's like it's not there.....
