Hey Hot Rocks- Thanks! I'm now checking out a 238 on ebay. It doesn't have the remote- Is that necessary? What would be a good cheap mixer for it? zman

So Hot Rocks- Is the 238 better than the 488 because you can record 8 tracks at once, or because it actually has better sound? Also, I'm unfamiliar with the 238- would I need to get a patch bay for it, or can I plug mics and instruments directly into it? Does it take xlr or just 1/4 inch...

Thanks for the input! If no-one steps up to the plate for the 488 it'll be history in my book. Of course, they could all be to busy happily, cheaply and easily recording music on their tascam deck to respond, but I guess I'll never know. Now the question is- What's the best (and easiest) one...

this is a direct quote from Electronic Musician Magazine: "the FD-8 can go beyond two only if you record using both the analog and digital inputs." and I think that means if you use digital and analog inputs you can do 4 tracks. sorry..
