Overdubbing with ART USB Dual Pre?

Yes, that shouldn't be a problem. That's how it was designed to be used.

Noise in ART Dual Pre usb interface when past 4 o'clock

The manual says that the gain knob basically pushes the tube. A little goes a long way with the gain knob.

dBVU, dBFS, noise, and YOU! (correct mixer gain)

I just wanted to thank the guy who suggested Reaper. I've been using now for over 2 years and it's the most intuitive multitracking program I've ever encountered. I've saved a ton of time on learning curve and have been able to spend more time on making music.

You Tell Me...Was The Firebox Worth The Money?

I know this is old, but I found it while looking up stuff on the Firebox. Your clip sounds much, much better than the studio clip.

Multiple mics on a single cab for a single track?

Thanks for the tips. I guess I just need to try doubling some tracks. My style makes it a bit hard, though, because I like to play within thechords a lot.

Multiple mics on a single cab for a single track?

I know a lot of people suggest doubling, tripling, quadrupling tracks for overdriven guitar tones for rhythm recording, but could you get the same effect from simply running 4 mics in front of your cab into your mixer and DAW.

Zoom B2 bass modeling preamp for recording. Opinions?

I have been using a Digitech BP50 preamp to record my bass tracks with very little success. The tracks seem to lack punch, clarity, and they are quite muddy and undefined. I am hoping the Zoom B2 will rectify that. Anyone using one of these to lay down bass tracks with? How do you like it...

Blue 8 Ball condenser acoustic clip.

These recordings are quite unremarkable, 'eh? I think I had the level too high on the second recording. I bet a middle of the road between the two recording's signal levels would work better.

dBVU, dBFS, noise, and YOU! (correct mixer gain)

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to try the Inspector program.

dBVU, dBFS, noise, and YOU! (correct mixer gain)

I've been using this really simplistic program from Cakewalk called Guitar Tracks. It doesn't have a meter in the program. I have Tracktion on the way, but it isn't here yet. So I can expect it to have a meter I can read the levels on, huh?

dBVU, dBFS, noise, and YOU! (correct mixer gain)

I am going to ask what is probably an odd and stupid question. My amateur recording rig has no way to accurately measure levels. My mic preamp doesn't have anything but 4 LEDs to show when it's officially clipping and the firebox has no meters, either. Here is my question: Is there some kind...

Levels, levels, levels... What are the general rules?

It was plugged into the line input of the interface. Let me ask you this, though, what you are suggesting is to back way, way off the point of clipping? If so, why is this? Does it help with the sound quality when you are piling up tracks? Also, it's tough to tell what the hell is what...

Levels, levels, levels... What are the general rules?

Well, the mic preamp is going into the "line in" on the fast tracks USB interface. I know that when my firebox arrives I can run it into the "line in" from my mic preamp and it wouldn't be running through the firebox preamps. Whether or not that's the case with the fast tracks I don't know for...

Levels, levels, levels... What are the general rules?

But what if that's where it sounds best? Do you have any advice other than to suggest what not to do?

Blue 8 Ball condenser acoustic clip.

Ok, here is a second clip after messing with the levels between my mic pre and the USB interface. It sounds a bit fuller. http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=4462460&q=hi
