Hey folks! I don't know that I've ever posted in this sub-forum before, this is like an adventure for me.
I'm working on a new post-rock EP; pretty much done with post-production, but before I master it (probably going to use Ozone, though I may actually splurge and hire a mastering studio) and...
Here's a thing. It's actually been sort of "released" for free on Bandcamp already, but at some point I'll be removing a lot of the stuff on Bandcamp and licensing it to the label. I might go through and redo the mixes on a lot of stuff before I send it off.

The last box I built was specifically for Reaper. Used an io|26 for the interface. Never had any problems with the computer or getting anything to recognize anything else. Only problem I ever had was going too heavy on the VSTs. Apparently 2 GB of RAM and a 2.2 Ghz proc. aren't enough to run...
I've had the same problem in the past. It's been a while since I actually used WMP though. Usually I keep everything at 24 all the way through and just use WMP for playing MP3s. If I need to convert to MP3 I usually use Audacity. I never really looked in to the problem, though, it didn't bother...
Very few. A D112 for the kick, an Apex 205 in the room, a '57 on the snare, and two LDCs in for overheads, if I'm feeling energetic. More often, the D112 out in front of the kick a bit and two overheads, and that's it.
Hello! I haven't been around, really... at all. Looks like not in the last year or so. I went through some periods of homelessness, car-dwelling, and moving around a lot, and haven't really done much music lately. That's changing! Finally getting back into it soon!
Looking into it, yeah, there really isn't an equivalent to the Q6600 by AMD that's at all affordable.
As for the memory -- I can't rate Corsair honestly, having never used it myself. I've always used Kingston and OCZ and never had any problems. OCZ makes the same spec RAM cards for the same...
ASUS -- good. Seagate -- great.
I'd recommend getting some better memory, though. Kingston is very reliable. I use OCZ -- good perfomance, good reliability.
Also, why Intel? AMDs are cheaper and in my experience (I work part-time for a computer shop, mostly building gaming machines) just as...
In my bedroom studio I didn't have a mixer, everything just went through a DMP3, Rane EQ, and compressor (very light), then into a 1010LT.
Now that I'm in a new studio, I've got everything coming in off the snake going into the MX9000 and taking at 8 sub outs to the iO|26, with a compressor and...
My new studio
It looks like I've got myself a studio underneath the guitar shop in town. The place has been around for six years and hasn't had any clients except for the former owners' bands. The last guy was there for two or three months and did a lot of work putting in drum and vocal booths...
