    Wireless Snake?

Well, I am very glad that you have not been experiencing problems with your wireless. I have only been doing live sound for 15 years, but an average week is about 60+ hours for me. There have been plenty of shows where I have had very few if any issues with wireless, but at the same time, I...

    Wireless Snake?

Sounds like pretty scary stuff to me. Any sort of technically capable wireless system will require either a lot of batteries, or a lot of power adapters. In addition to all this the most important thing, the lack of decent quality and reliable wireless transmission systems. Never mind all the...

    Recording Live Bands With iPhone

Downloading an app with a compressor limiter will just screw things up worse. The biggest problem here is that it sounds like there is already a compressor limiter of sorts that is masking itself as an AGC circuit (automatic gain compensation).

31 Band EQ, DBX Driverack, or something else?

If it were me, I would pass on the Driverack idea for just EQ purposes. Like mentioned earlier, it is far to slow and clunky for just using it as an EQ. In fact, I would pass on DBX altogether for your intended use you described and have a serious look at a used Ashly EQ. The Ashley EQ's are...

    Ducking and Noise gate (live)

First off, I couldn't really say what you should or shouldn't do without hearing things first (system, band, room etc....) Also, I assume you meant an SLS array instead of an SSL array? Thats one hell of a rigging setup to make a hanging vertical array of consoles. And I thought Vdosc was...

    Recording Live Bands With iPhone

From what I understand, part of that has to do with automatic gain compensation. If you really want to get rid of that, BLUE has a mic that sells for under $100 that has fixed gain settings for ipod's (and most likely would work on iphones as well).

    Hoobastank's cool snare tip

You act like the snare has been pulled from the album and replaced by a click track. All they talked about was layering the clikc track in with it for a little extra something. So is it all jacked up if I sit there with wood blocks and clap them together on a microphone at the same time as the...

    Hoobastank's cool snare tip

Well, any way you put it, by blindly writing it off, it sounds pretty close minded to me. Sounds to me like you wrote it off without even hearing the example in question here. You have no idea if the layer in question didn't nmake the snare sound like just a better snare. As drummers we do...

    Mackie 24.8 mixer question...

To expand upon what Massive said, your Mackie sounds like it is functioning exactly how it should. The solo buttons should take a channel, and place it in the solo metering path as well as the control room output path but NOT the stereo left and right path. There is however a button on the...

    Just throwing this out there......

As a drummer, I certainly prefer the use of real drums. As an engineer however, it completely depends onb the music being recorded and the intended sound and goal. I would however rather use programmed beats and loops from the get go then sit there and drum replace an entire drummers kit...

    Hoobastank's cool snare tip

So maybe for newbies sakes we should not give any sort of advice in these forums then? I can't believe some of the comments in this thread. Its kind of funny actually, and truthfully, I do believe them. I don't think there is any real debate over whether or not a snare should be well tuned...

    bcf 2000 help

I wish I could help you out a little more on this one, but at the least I might be able to save you some time. After the BCF's came out I actually bought one. I figured that it was behringer so I shouldn't waste my time or money, but at the same time it is also just a remote control and has no...

    UAD Mackie vs. VLA/RNC/etc.

Well, I am a big proponent of hardware units and my vote still goes UAD. Nothing outboard even comes close to the quality and usefulness and value of the UAD PCI express package at $99. Granted you still have to go buy the 1176, but the SE version will still get you through many tasks, not to...
