I have been recording on and off for 20 years.
I have modest skills on keyboards, guitar and I'm fairly good on Bass guitar. I am practicing keyboards and funk guitar every day now.
I have an ambition to get a Billboard Hot 100 hit. (Yes, me and a million others.)
I like producing pop music with younger female singers who have excellent vocal intonation and can play keyboards. (I have a daughter and can tell young women are human, but there is no way to tell what they are thinking.) So much of modern pop music is generated with keyboards.
You have success from great melodies, excellent vocal production and a good groove.
I have much to learn.
EQUIPMENT:
Cubase, Waves plugins, Aturia virtual synths. Windows 10 PC, FireFace 800 interface, Mackie CR1604 VLZ mixer, Mackie HR824 monitors, Focusrite ISA430 Mk2 preamp, Rode K2 microphone, Shure SM7b, Shure SM57, Rode NT5, Rode NT3, Sony MDR-5706 headphones, Mackie Universal control, MOTU MIDI Express 128, Roland RD-300sx keyboard, Roland JV1080 and a pile of other stuff that is less important.
My focus has gone from Gear Acquisition to minimalist, do it in the box.
AAA quality gear won't make a hit, a great melody and expressive performance might.
LIVING IN AUSTRALIA
People hear about all the the deadly snakes, venomous spiders and sharks in Australia. I do bush walking and SCUBA diving. I have only met 2 people who have been bitten by snakes, myself and a guy who runs a snake show. I consider myself a very lucky person!
While we are talking rare things in Australia, I have only ever met one Afro-American in my whole life. That was the great Nile Rodgers.
