i have a TL audio 5001, used it yesterday to record an orchestra and choir in this big church. sounded spot on. i've used it on almost everything that one would be likely to run into in a live/studio situation and it has excelled at all of them .
in my honest opinion it sounds like a shithot setup. are you planning on recording just vocals?
Most of the neve sound in those modules is from the transformers, and i think the 1290 uses the same transformers and a pretty similar preamp board. especially if your going for deftones style...
i from the UK and can safley say i've never had a problem using american gear. i think the rest of europe use a two pin system ( unlike our three pin) so it should pretty unlikely you will do any damge. Probally would be worth running it through a surge protector-
i'd go balanced in to the mic amps. you don't add any gain on the yamaha's pres so the shouldn't affect your sound too much. i've done this sucsessfully with yamaha desks and multitrackers before.
on the lexicon thing i have used both the mpx500 and the mpx1 and i do prefer the sound on the mpx1. They both have the same dsp chip for the reverb but the mpx1 has a chip for effects aswell.
Although my pcm 60 smokes both of them ( somewhat going against what Bluebear said) cos i don't think...
i think the pm-2 has pentodes in, as oposed to triodes in the C-1. triodeds are ment to have a nicer mid, whereas pentodes have nicer highs and lo-s ( so i'm told- i dont have any gear with pentodes in).
those mackies are fucking awful. put some mixes on through them that i had done through tannoy reveals. they just sounded terrible- but the same mixes sounded shit hot on like every hi-fi i tryed them on.
they also seem to popular for the same reasons as NS-10s ( overblown high end the makes...
i'm not sure about the hhb version but the TL audio version is sweet. its not one of these tube blend circuits designed to distort that mix with a solid state ciruit. the mic amp is soild state and the line output amp is tube.
because the ouput is not tranformer balanced the unit is...
some of you may remember that about six months ago i was looking for a 8/16 channel channel front/back end for my studio.
after finding nothing in my price range that seemed to fit i decided to build one my self. i can solder and read diagrams pretty well. 12-2 all tube. its nearly finnished-...
hey
i've had one of these for about a year now, and i've never used it to its full poteintial. the other day i was trying to use its effects and filters on some audio through the audio input, but i couldn't get it to work.
i know you need to trigger the envelopes with midi data, and i would...
