Poor man's studio
Wow I have really not thought about how much money I've got tied up in this stuff until I took the poll. When you add up everything over the past few years it gets pretty costly - even for my small setup.

For what it's worth, I converted a closet into a vocal booth. There are no windows of course, but those are not mandatory. I just installed some sound absorbing foam on the walls and put a low-pile carpet rug...

I think Nirvana gets blamed because of the timing of everything. Bon Jovi helped pave the way with their smiley :) spin on metal. I never considered Bon Jovi as metal anyway. I call that glam rock (i.e. poison, warrant etc).

I currently use Line 6 Gear Box for my tones. I bought this after I sold my Behringer Vamp Pro.
What are your recommendations for a good processor (beyond the above)? I tend to like the hard rock / metal tones.

As far as condenser mics go, I can recommend the Audio-Technica AT2020 if you are on a budget or the AT4040 if you can afford it.
I've also used the Behringer B-1 ($99) which works well also.
