I already have a mackie mixer with mic preamp and phantom power, however, does getting a preamp help the sound better , how would I use this in conjuntion with my mixer? Also, about preamp for power, does a studio really need preamp power for the equipment or is just plugging into the wall...

I was wondering if anyone has experience with rewiring record to Ableton live 8? If so what are the advantages to doing this , instead of JUST using record? Also , what is Ableton best for live or studio? I have heard it's better than cubase..... The aesthetics are certainly pleasing on Ableton.
