Listen to a couple old Atheist or Death records, that's somewhat how it should sound (but hopefully a bit more polished). Mastering should bulk up the stuff between the clicky kicks and meaty snares/toms to create the full wall of sound that most extreme metal has.

I don't understand what you'd need to write code for, as long as you have your device sending MIDI control to Reaper, you can go to the action list, add, and it should work.
