Hi !
1. What do you mean by input lag from the amp ? Do you mean latency in Ableton ? If you're facing latency, just ensure you're using the latest ASIO drivers. Also play around with the buffer size in Ableton's settings to reduce latency.
2. The solution to your drumming part is pretty...
Thanks for the response Simon ! Really appreciate the support considering it's an independent forum. I tried what you suggested but it didn't work. However I managed to find a solution by connecting the interface to a USB 3.0 port on my PC. I'd been plugging it into USB 2.0 ports all this while.
Hi
I'm facing some trouble with my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface. It seems to be getting reset every few seconds when I attach it to my PC. I'm using Ableton 9, Win 7-64 bit, 8 GB RAM. Plug my electric guitar- no issues with that since the output works fine on direct monitoring.
This is...
Is it not recognizing the interface at all ? Does it say USB detected when you attach it in ? If not, then there's something wrong with the USB connection or your device. If the computer detects it then just do the following:
1. Install drivers from the Focusrite website (not beta). If the...
I had two main obstacles to compose/record anything in the past:
1. Live in a small apartment and could never crank up my amp without bothering the wife/neighbours
2. I live in India and you just don't get good quality equipment here. If you somehow manage to find something decent, you need to...
I live in Mumbai. Play bass and a bit of guitar as well.
Agree with Mogo's advice. Guitar Rig is a great tool to customize your sound. Try to build your own setup using the different pedals and chains. You can replicate popular combinations for the Les Paul on GR.
One piece of advice since...
I'm assuming you need a basic book. Lifekacker has this 30 page pdf which is a good place to start, but I would recommend this
Composing Digital Music For Dummies: Russell Dean Vines: 9780470170953: Amazon.com: Books
It explains most recording and mixing concepts well.
Hey
While Guitar Rig is not the best plugin out there for clean/jazzy tones, I find it hard for anyone to say that the presets are horrible. I say this, because I have the same setup as you. Guitar>>2i2>>Ableton>>Guitar Rig
What guitar are you using ? As a control, why don't you try with...
Just think of the signal route for Guitar Rig:
Input > Process > Output is basically: Guitar > Guitar Rig > DAW Track
The output of a process can only be as good as the input. So yes, better guitar quality would result in a better sound on GR. That said, you can cut out the hums or any other...
The limitations in Ableton lite would be:
1. Number of audio tracks (8)
2. Number of simultaneous effects
3. Not able to save a project
You can still create pretty kickass material with just 8 tracks but you'd want to have the option to save your project.
If you need more than 8 notes, then you're probably better off using a drum plugin like Addictive/Superior Drums. You'll get better quality of samples, more tracks and the ability to channel each element as a new track in Ableton.
I have more or less the same requirements on most of my projects. 8-10 tracks and 4-5 plugins. 4 GB RAM coupled with a mid-level AMD Quad-core processor works fine for me. I run 64-bit Win 7 and haven't faced any issues with plugins. The requirements also depends on the plugins I guess. I use AD...
