Question about patching a 19" rack stereo multi-effects unit into a patchbay.

Hi all... I'll try and be brief. I've recently (finally!!) got around to making my studio and patching all of my assorted bits and pieces together. I decided to get a 19" cabinet to install all of my synth modules/samplers and route them through a balanced patch bay (Samson S4) to my DAW...

Superdomestique - Working towards a final mix

Hi Btyre Well it's an interesting proposition.... which DAW are you using? The track was originally recorded in Live 9 but I've since imported it into Live 10 so no going back unfortunately. Everything still exists as individual tracks (there's a lot of them)... if you've got Live 10, I could...

Superdomestique - Working towards a final mix

Bulls Hit... you've scored 1 out of 3!!! ... the last section IS my nod to JMJ ... well done... you're in the running for the grand prize and since everyone's been way off the mark, I am now offering a clue to the other two ... section 1: think dramatic over-the-top cinematic ... the sort of...

Superdomestique - Working towards a final mix

Hi TripleM I'm not super-sure what I used for a snare (drum sample or just what was in the box).... at one stage there would have been about a dozen drum tracks going ... it was crazy ... I havent listened to this track in months so I can get the sounds completely out of my head... I'll have...

Superdomestique - Working towards a final mix

Kind words Timbo... thanks very much. Yeah... it's sort of a guitar solo when you're not having a guitar solo... I was planning on a Mike Oldfield sort of guitar section but just couldn't record a decent guitar (let alone PLAY any decent guitar) so i just left it as a tiny guitar phrase...

Superdomestique - Working towards a final mix

Hi Johnny Thanks for your comments. EQ has been a major pain throughout this mix and the snare has been a pain on top of a pain... I don't know how many times I swapped out snare sounds to get one that fits... maybe this still needs a bit more work. 4 on the Floor is basically a steady 4/4...

Superdomestique - Working towards a final mix

Hi all Well I've finally started doing the final mixes of the tracks I want to release on my bucket-list album... I've decided to start on the title track and also the longest track of the album... it comes in at about 8 minutes so it was a bit of a task to get it to this stage. The track is...

This is my ~30th Version. Have at it!

What I and everyone else means is that your vocals are mixed too loudly... in other words, they are too loud in the mix and the level should be pulled back a little bit so that they sit better in the overall song... dont add more reverb as that will make them too mushy but still as loud. The...

This is my ~30th Version. Have at it!

First impressions - listening on average computer speakers (closest i can get to car speakers)... I think evrything I want to comment on has already been covered but here's my 2c worth... The kick and bass really need to sync... you're losing a lot of punch by having different rhythms for...

"Like A Butterfly" acoustic folky original

Hi Nicky That's a fantastic song ... really excellent... and no, it's not too morbid ;-) There are quite a few things I think are great about it - firstly it has a great tune and some intersting chords... the chord change that starts the second half of each verse is beautiful... very whimsical...

    New track - Absynth

Hi jonlint I'm glad you liked the track and thanks for your comments - I never considered doing much to the drums but it's definitely worth a go... anything to give the track a bit more width or space. Yes I agree ... reverb is KING (at least it was in the 80s) ... now I'm really showing my...

    "Forgiven"

Sullivan ... sensational work!!! I can't add much more than what has already been said but on my first listen, I'd add a bit more meat to the bottom end... not sure if you've fixed it but I decided to listen on crappy speakers first rather than my monitors which makes everything sound (too)...

    New track - Absynth

Thanks Bulls Hit Yep... I'm stuck in the 80s in more ways than one... The original version all those years ago was very simple so recording it properly gave me a chance to give it a spit and polish... the sounds came about by trial and error but I eventually found some that worked ... they're...

    Your thoughts please

It won't make any difference what the tempo is ... fast or slow, it's still a waste of time if it ain't in time (to quote our drummer...) Start from the ground up... play your drums and count to 4 or tap your foot to the rhythm ... you should be able to clap in lockstep with the kick and snare...
