Hi: Anyone out there know if the Tascam FW-1884 can be used as a surface controller WITHOUT the firewire connected with Cubase 5. I want to do this so that I can use a Motu audio interface, and be able to control the mixer in Cubase at the same time . Any help would be appreciated.

I've got a Tascam DA-P1 dat recorder that is having battery problems. When plugged into a wall outlet, the unit indicates "Low battery". If I pull the plug, the unit powers down. This happens with new batteries. Thaking you in advance for any suggestions.
