    BOSE Speaker Debate

I think the reason professionals question Bose is that Bose doesn't publish specs for a lot of their stuff. We like to know exactly what we're buying. I used 4 of their 802 cabinets for vocals only in a band and they sounded great. Each cab got 200 watts and I used their processor. I recently...

    An oldie but a goodie...

Love the acoustics, rhythmic and fluffy. I like to pan them wide, too. I, too think the guitar is a little over the top. The general vibe of the song is very light, so it feels like the guitar slams you too hard. You have good chops, just lighten up on the sound. Good job

    Harrison Mixbuss?

This DAW sounds fantastic, real simple, but a little clunky yet. I used it with UA plugs on an old Macbook Pro and it behaved really well. Once Harrison gets the user interface together it will be my go to mix DAW. I will probably still track in Logic, but depending what Harrison does, that may...

Sorry, another how can I improve thread.

Yep, what he said. Learn to breathe properly. Use your diaphragm. Singing is all about support. Look around on the Internet and search for those techniques. They will help you immensely.

    Using My Head Voice?

Nielphine, I find your posts to be very educational and interesting. Where does Jon Anderson of Yes fit in?

Built a home studio desk - my result

Awesome job. Now next some DIY sound treatment panels and bass traps. And be sure to do another video!

    Compression while recording...

I just brick wall it on the way in, saves time with all that screwing around with those fancy plugins on the 2 bus. :D Disclaimer: Due to the lighthearted comedic nature of this thread, I couldn't resist.

    recording overhead mics for drums

I record OH in mono, but when I mix, I pan them left and right, along with other drum elements, high hats for example, so the drums sit in a space. Often I'll use headphones and monitors to judge where the pans should be. Wont get into the mix stuff here.

Doing basic tracks in (gasp) a pro studio. Advice?

One of the co-founders of the studio, Adel, studied at Full Sail and did a John Mayer album. I think you're in good hands. Know your material cold so you can get first or second takes on the songs and you should have a great session.

I don't know where to post this........

I like the singer's jacket. Unfortunately I had to watch the video with the sound off. Wow, that's something I never thought I'd say on a recording forum.

Track In A Studio Mix At Home or Track At Home Mix In A Studio

That would be me whacking myself in the head trying to mix in an untreated space. Sorry for the misinterpretation. I completely agree with the fact that mixing in a bad sounding room is a futile experience.

Track In A Studio Mix At Home or Track At Home Mix In A Studio

I would only track drums in the studio. Track everything else at home. When you mix it with a great engineer in HIS professional studio that's most likely treated and sounds great. You'll end up with a great result. Love to hear it when your done.

    How to compare pro mixers?

I love doing all my own work, but if I had a track I felt strongly about, I might hire a pro mixer engineer. I mean credited, maybe a Grammy. There's hundreds of these guys around and they'd love to do great work for you. Find a song you like the mix, the feel, the groove of. Contact the...
