    UAD-1 with CEP/Audition, anybody?

Is anybody out there using this card with our beloved multitrack software? I would like to compare thoughts, settings, notes...........

    Digital Clipping?

Clipping can usually be visually idetified by flat tops. What I have done in the past to hide bad distortion is envelope it out as much as possible and replace it with another moment from the same take or another take. It is posiible to replace single sylables if you spend enough time on it...

why can't I master my own stuff?

Just another opinion: You can't, by my definition, Master your own mix. You can only make whatever problems/shortcomings you have in your room/ears/gear worse. If you couldn't get it right the first time, what makes you thing you can the next? Strapping on an eq. a compressor and an L1 is NOT...

    Tracking compression??

This is like asking: what's the difference between a horse? In other words there is no possible right answer. Getting it right at tracking is the goal, as long as you know what it is you will be wanting at mixdown. Squashing the snot out of a signal is good if you need power, weight and healthy...

    DC offset confusion

Not sure if you have your tearms right, it's a confusing subject as it deals with that wierd netherworld of electrical voltage vs. audio dbv. Not that I have that deep an understanding...but, it sounds like you are talking about balance not DC offset. DC offset has no "left" or "right", it is...

yet another "What is going on?" question

Allright, I've been using CEP for years now. I was very exited when 2.0 came along (especially after being a beta-tester) and while I still do most of my work on 1.2a I am getting used to 2 and growing into it. Now comes along Adobe. The program looks the same with a new name. My question is: I...

Getting a weird flanging effect on mic'd 12 string

Does the same thing happen with any source with the mic? If you talk into it does it sound weird? Does it sound weird while you are tracking or only on playback? Are you monitoring the input channel or the return channel, or both?

Getting a weird flanging effect on mic'd 12 string

Maybe.... You are routing in such a way that you are hearing or tracking both a pre- and post-converter signal. Usually this creates a feedback loop, but not always. I'm not sure this is it, but maybe.....

    That other board....

wats up with audiomasters...is it gone for good? Through it I had actually made contact with someone maybe to do some work and due to my bad record keeping I can't get in touch with them... Plus it promised to be a cool bb

Recording Drums with a single mic.

Check out mixes called "Tornadic" and "Rot with you" on my website if you want to hear examples of one-mic drums. This project was recorded to four track casette (!!) and brought here to mix. One condenser, I believe a Marshall or MXL (?), was used into an old Marantz field recorder as a...

Is there a way to send each signal from a mixer to a seperate track instead all in 1

Kona, I sent you an e-mail, hope it helps. It sounds like an assignment issue within CEP. Check to make sure everything matches up. As I'm sure you've figured out, CEP thinks of the inputs from the Layla in stereo pairs. i.e. inputs 1&2 are "recording device 1, left and right" in CEP...

Is there a way to send each signal from a mixer to a seperate track instead all in 1

All you need is a soundcard with multiple outputs. CEP will recognize them all and allow you to assign them to any track on the multitrack screen. This is the way to go for me. i.e. I have two Echo Layla cards. One has ten analogue outs and a spdif stereo out. The other has 8 analogue outs a...

Does anybody out there use the UAD-1 with CEP successfully?

    Punching In

I pretty much always envelope out the parts I want to replace, record punches to new track, crossfade them in listening carefully to make sure they blend in smoothly with none of the tics or pops that can happen if your envelope is too steep, and then mix the tracks down to a new comp track...
