Is it possible for indie artists to survive making music?

Im still trying to figure out social media. In a way I could argue that I just became famous on this forum. I generared cheap heat by saying some things that defy what we consider normal. I got a 5 star thread. Why should people even give a fuck about my music? They don't need a reason to give a...

Is it possible for indie artists to survive making music?

My garbage man is the best guitar player ever. But, you guys are right. It's time I bit the bullet and faced reality. People are gonna reward the rappers and the chicks with pop rock bands over me because they like easy, predictable garbage. If I have the choice between joining an underground...

Is it possible for indie artists to survive making music?

Maybe some of us had a few laughs at this thread. I am not a troll however my original post went off topic and I didn't really get the kind of answers from people I had hoped. I was simply curious about what drives you, the amount of sales, and fans you have gained. If you want to open this up...

    Any input/advice on my mix?

Pretty good dude. The guitar has a raspy Black Sabbath feel to it which I love. It would be a killer song with some vocals. The only thing I would do differently is crank on those drums make them a bit more fat.

    Home Recording's Dirty Little Secret

I expect perfection and I will settle for nothing less. The idea is to not realease it until it sounds like it was done in a professional studio. I believe it is difficult but not impossible. If I was going to pay a recording engineer to begin with I would not have gone broke spending everything...

    Demos vs Studio recordings

It depends on how it was recorded. I usually do like demos a lot more than modern professional studio recordings. The reason why is because I can usually tell when they take shortcuts in the studio. In my opinion if the mix is telling a story that sounds beyond the capabilities of the artist...

Whoa - somebody got peeved and hacked up this LP

This is terrible. How dare whoever did that abuse the guitar. How could you destroy something so beautiful? Maybe just throw some stickers over her and somebody will give her the love that she needs. She deserves an owner that will play her and treat her right.

Is it possible for indie artists to survive making music?

You guys brought me back down to reality. So thank you. I need to be more realistic about my goals. I am an absolute legend and my gift to the world is my music. Don't ask me how the sky is up there. Ask me what it is like in space because I am on a level that you have never seen before. The...

Is it possible for indie artists to survive making music?

I was just wanting to hear from the guy who said yeah I sold this many albums and I made this much money. Being a solo artist was something I dove into after I watched all my old band mates give up music to go get day jobs. I quit my day job to do the music thing full time. With that being said...

Is it possible for indie artists to survive making music?

Im just curious have any of you ever had a decent amount of success selling your music digitally? What is the most you ever made? Or did it flop and your worst nightmare came true? Im a solo artist getting ready for my first release so this kind of scares me a little bit. I am not going to...

How does Lars Ulrich record such a massive drum reverb sound for The Black Album?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5TnPjOd_To A soloed drum kit with reverb can sound beautiful but when it comes time to sit with bass and guitar tracks I find the drums quiet down. Which is weird because you could mix drum tracks to sound just like The Black Album by adding reverb but it has...
