bass drum technique is the most overlooked principal in drumming so i'm glad this heel up question came up.....
heel up is the way to go....never use your leg, it's like using your arms while hitting your toms....you'll never be able to play fast or properly...
it's easier to get a good...
thanks a lot for the feedback, and yes i am gonna be doing drum tracking on it (9 mics...for recording at home but live it will only be 4) so i'll need all 10 channels. I was thinking i could just use one of the preamps on my floor tom which i don't use as much as my other toms and run a...
boo to sabian
i've never been a fan of sabian cymbals...sure every now and again i'll hear one that actually sounds good. i mean, some wuhan cymbals, which really are garbage lids sound better than a lot of the lower end sabians. and sure it's a matter of taste, but there are very few sabians...
well the only reason why i wanted to use the sound card's channels with built in pre amps is because with the extra two pre amped channels........i can record 10 channels simultaniously, which is ideal for what i want to do. so i have 8 1/4" inputs and 2 xlr inputs on the soundcard. How can i...
i'm not sure if you guys are understanding what i'm saying, but i'm probably not explaining it well either...
ok......here's my chain
MIC -- MACKIE(through xlr input) --- Soundcard (from insert on mackie, to 1/4" input on soundcard breakbox).... that's it...short and sweet..........sometimes...
well the thing is i'm using the mixer's preamps (via the insert) to go into the 1/4" jacks on the external breakbox of the soundcard....and i have a Mackie CFX20 so every channel has a preamp, i'm not sure about the stereo channels though....i'll have to check..
i'm not really a guitarist but i think this still applies...
when you're trying to recreate a solo or a jam/improv you're not going to unless you got ears to transcribe note for note. each jam/solo whatever you want to call it, is gonna be unique each time. Whenever i take a solo and i'm...
well, i don't quite understand, are you saying that the hi hats actually come apart or they're just moving their foot? because if they're moving the hi hats up and down while playing and keeping a closed sound....well then shit i'm stumped....
actually, if you move the hi hat up and down in...
oh sorry, i didn't mean "mix input" i meant mic. the only deal is, i have a cport dsp 2000 with 8 1/4" inputs and 2 xlr inputs with preamps.
and seanmorse79 has this card(mines coming in the mail) and he said the preamps on the card aren't that great. But i want those extra 2 channels to...
what about when you're going through a mixer and you're using the mixers pres......how do you use an external pre with a mixer?
once again...very basic
ss
also, if you used an external pre on say the mix input on a sound card with built in pres, what will that do
oh yeah, don't get me wrong, it's hard tuning drums but i don't think that you can just use a dial that does it for you and expect to get better....maybe use it to learn how to tune maybe....
i have to admit though, i've never used one of these and i'm quite curious as to getting one so i can...
one more thing....
pick a drummer, your favorite drummer or your favorite band or something.....
BECOME THIS DRUMMER learn everything he does in every situation...learn his music better than he knows it......
then do it better, add something that YOU like and slowly you'll learn everything...
