    First drum recording

Definitely hope to produce an actual song and see these drums in the context of a mix 👀

He is a great player, will pass it along :)

    First drum recording

I used a Zoom H6 for recording and it’s hard to judge gain... brought it into Mixbus and I was boosting gain there by up to 20db (maximum it will allow)... I do intend to get to the bottom of this. Was it noticeable in any way? EDIT: Mixbus also normalizes automatically when “quick exporting”.

    First drum recording

Wassup! It’s been a moment. Hope you remember me :) Been hanging with a drummer friend lately; like me, he’s a Steely Dan superfan, and we enjoy a lot of similar music. I brought my gear over for a quick set-up and I recorded him. This is a very rudimentary setup and mix (I listened to the...

    Riff Raff -Remix-

B3 would be nice! I’ll leave it at that, others will have more to say on the low-end... don’t have the best listening system at the moment!

What Computer/Hardware to Buy For My Budget And Specific Needs (Which Includes Compatibility With An MP3 Player)

M4 is massive overkill. Last I checked M2 computers were still available on the official Apple refurbished site. Excellent computers that have not been overdriven by any of the “pros” who’ve tried to push its limits (Colt Caperrune I think was among them?)

    Are instrumentals 'songs'?

What do you do with a song? You sing it. Do you sing an instrumental? No. Therefore, an instrumental is not a song.

They were fun for 5 minutes when I discovered them at 8yrs old, and I’ve stayed away since

Cheat or not cheat? That might be the question

Don’t get me wrong, I love Rick. Good point re:algorithm work

Cheat or not cheat? That might be the question

I would hesitate to characterize them as “fluff”. As I said, “saying the obvious” just to please your cult/following who already know that Stairway to Heaven is the greatest acoustic guitar intro in rock history. For the record I agree with points brought up by both yourself @brassplyer and...

Cheat or not cheat? That might be the question

I rarely take this point of view but I’ll make the exception-- These quotes kinda make the point that "brilliant" singing is far from objective. Just like any type of artistic expression. I used to profoundly dislike hip-hop (and still dislike its modern incarnation -- “rap”) but a couple of...

TBH any computer currently being mass-produced today is going to get the job done in modest home recording setups, and IMO there is no better computer than a Mac. At the end of the day, the main thing I'd say based on what I've heard from your current setup, is to get anything other than a...

    Sound

fwiw... Apple is far from "restricted", as far as I know Cakewalk/Bandlab is the only "mainstream" DAW environment that is not compatible with Mac. Many -- and would I dare say most -- DAW-centric pro studios operate on Mac, usually with a Pro Tools- (Avid) centric setup. However home recording...
