    Acoustic treatment advice needed.

Thanks Alex, There's a lot of good info on the SAE site. But I've still got a long way to go to figure out how much of each kind acoustic treatment will give me a true sound for my space. Sage

    Acoustic treatment advice needed.

Hi, I am setting up my recording/control room in a small room (10' x 13'), and want to treat it for proper sound absorbtion for both recording and mixing. Attached is a basic diagram. Can anyone give me some tips? Or know where else I can look, or books to get? Thanks! Sage

    Shure SM58 vs Beta58A?

Chris, The email contact on the HMO web site doesn't go direct to me. Maybe she'll forward it to me if she see's it's for me, or maybe not. A direct email for me is sage@metertech.com Sage

    Shure SM58 vs Beta58A?

Hey Guys, Thanks for all the great info. I'm glad I asked those with experience before I jumped out and got a couple of SM58's. The Beta 87 or Sennheiser 865 sound like the way to go. Then I'll be able to record a couple of vocals and some instruments at the same time, and still be able to keep...

    Shure SM58 vs Beta58A?

I was going to get a couple of Shure SM58's for high quality live vocals, and for when I need to record several tracks at once, but keep a reasonable sound isolation for mix editing capability. (My large diaphram condensor is just too sensitive some times.) Does the Beta 58A sound just as good...

    Firewire vs SCSI External Harddrive?

Okay, I'll check into the Ultra ATA PCI card, and talk to a local friend who is a sys admin guy for more help. Thanks for all the help! Sage

    Firewire vs SCSI External Harddrive?

It sounds like my best bet for performance is the IDE internal drive. The only downside is I'll have to copy everything from my extra (audio only) internal 13Gig before removing it and replacing it with a 120Gig. Thanks!

    Firewire vs SCSI External Harddrive?

Hi! Thanks for your answer. When you say I can do more simultaneous recording and playback with SCSI, I'm concerned about Firewire limiting me. Do you know how an internal IDE performance compares to external SCSI or Firewire? Thanks! Sage

    Firewire vs SCSI External Harddrive?

I want to add an external hardrive to my computer to record audio, and am wondering if anyone can tell me which works better, SCSI or Firewire interface? I'm running Windows 98SE and Sonar 2.0 software. Firewire drives seems to be plentiful and less expensive these days. Thanks in advance! Sage

    Cad E-200 vs NT-2 vs AT4050

Thanks DALtune for the positive comments on the E-200. I'd like to try the NT-2 and the E-200 side by side. Anyone out there have any more comments about either one? They are both advertised for around $400. Recording Engineer. The Octava MC319 is the one you're usually recomending, so that's...

    Cad E-200 vs NT-2 vs AT4050

Hi Microphone Experts, I'm wanting to add a large diaphram condenser to my recording tool kit. My local sound folks (Santa Cruz, CA) loaned me a Cad E-200 and an Audio Technica 4050 (supposed to be like a 4030 but switchable), which I also compared to a small diaphram and a pzm. I tried a wide...

VS880 to PC, CD Burner, bigger HD

Burton, They first came with .5 gig, later 1 gig, and now they have a 2.1 gig (you can check with retailers or Roland for specs). And I know the maximum capacity per drive is 4 gig in 1 gig partitions, I've read the specs in my manuals. Thanks, Sage

VS880 to PC, CD Burner, bigger HD

Thanks for all the great info Burton. I have a .5 gig drive, not .5 meg. I know the Roland will only support a maximum of 4 gigs, but it's hard to find smaller hard drives these days. Sage

Laptop vs. PC & Roland VS880

Hey there Cool HomeRec Folks, I am ready to get a new computer (present one is 4yrs old) and am wondering about getting a lap-top for ease of portable recording and less noise to pick up with mics. Right now I have a Roland VS880 for portability and ease of quick and simple recording (which...

VS880 to PC, CD Burner, bigger HD

Hi HomeRec Friends, I just got a VS880ex from a friend, and I have some questions for you more experienced folks. 1. What are the best ways to transfer data from the 880 to my PC? What equipment do I need to do that? 2. Do I need the special Plextor/Roland CD burner for backups? Or can I...
