Rick I am not going to get into a big debate but I used a decibel meter before treating our little home rehearsal room while the band played and after with the band playing at the same levels as before treatment and the foam dropped the reading by 14 decibels so...

It relies much more on the method of recording than the actual instrument that will have the final outcome of the sound quality of the recorded instrument
IOW a 2 thousand dollar guitar can sound like crap if it is not correctly recorded as well as a 200 dollar guitar can sound awesome if...

Go to Harbor Freight Tools and get some of those black padded moving blankets
They work excellent for sound deadening devices for spare bedroom/garage /utility room studios.
I needed some money so I am now down to 3 bass guitars and 3 electrics and my violin but I always have something on the bench.
of course my son has a lot I have handed down.
Oh Ok I get it now but still it was all jimmy for the most part. he did most of the Mixing dubbing and editing of his music He was quite a genus in that aspect as well that not many know about.
