Prevent house cats clawing/scratching up the gobo's?

Well, at least you have a clear set of morals.

Prevent house cats clawing/scratching up the gobo's?

It hasn't happened yet, but my portable gobo's and bass traps will soon be moved to a home that has cats. The 3 largest upright gobo's are about 4 x 7 ft, stuffed with compressed rockwool, and covered with light-weight fleece. I few other bass panels are stuffed with compressed fiberglass and...

    Delta mode - compressors

Compressed vs. uncompressed? I can already do that by clicking the BYPASS button on and off. But I understood the OP to say that it creates an inverse or negative copy of the signal which reveals only the peaks, (the part which has been reduced,) and no other underlying sound. Wouldn’t that...

    Delta mode - compressors

I am not sure I understand how that could be useful. You should be monitoring the track content to judge if and when the compression makes it better (or worse). Simply chopping off peaks doesn't always make everything better. There is often a lot of valuable content hidden within those transient...

    Drone choice for areal shots?

If you are in the US, you will need to register that drone with the FAA due to its weight. https://registermyuas.faa.gov/ You must also pay close attention to new laws about where you can fly it. Outside of that, knock yourself out and enjoy.

    Best room mic techniques

Yes, somewhat, but actually, you could use in-ear-monitors with shooting range muffs placed over top. That might help considerably. A better situation would be to listen to the drums through monitors from over in the control room. However, I don't have a separate control room. My drum room is...

Snare Too Loud in OHs w/ Glyn Johns Mic Technique

I agree with Farview that if tracking is already finished, limiting or compression with zero attack will easily trim down transient peaks. To answer your question, a dead-ringer (a flat tone control ring,) on the snare head will tame it down some. Otherwise, the snare may be tuned too tightly...

    Best room mic techniques

I never measure anything because every room has different modes and nulls. Instead, I walk around the room beating on a small tom tom. When I discover the point where the tom sounds fullest and comes alive, that's where the drum set goes. Later, (if I want room mics,) I move each mic around...

    vocal distortion, help

Examine your mic technique. Quickly back your mouth away from the microphone while hitting louder notes. Then move closer for softer passages. (It's free compression.) A few other questions... What is your interface? Does it also have a preamp built-in? What is your maximum recording level...

    Your Recording/Producing Mistakes

One frustrating mistake I used to make was to record singer/song writers, (acoustic guitar and vocals together,) using poor mic technique on my part. I'd often allowed too much guitar bleed into the vocal mics and visa versa. This problem makes any meaningful EQ'ing and mixing next to...

Wow! Ashly CL52E, What a huge difference it has made.

I am very picky about my compression. Sometimes I'll spend an hour or more just to get a single vocal or instrument track sounding perfect. Then the 2-bus takes even more tweaking until I am happy. (Yes, I know what I am doing. I've been using compressors for over 20 years and I think I've read...

    Multi-band compressors. How? Where? When?

Oh. OK, I'll give you that one. Good point. I was talking about when I do the tracking and mixing.

    Multi-band compressors. How? Where? When?

I will occasionally use one to de-esse a vocal track, but never use one on the master channel. A problem on the master channel that requires a MBC should have never gotten that far in the first place.

    How do they do this?

I would just use volume automation (envelopes) on the daw track.
