I own a tascam 488 mk II. Is been serviced by tascam in the last 6 months to replace the belts. Now it will not play. FF and REwd work fine. Any suggestions? Back to tascam for round 2?
To answer Grimtraveller's question, I would say that Im getting full on mixed signals. I will try assigning and panning the switches as suggested. Thanks everyone.
Hi Washburn100. No, I am only arming one track at a time. I believe it has something to do with the cue settings and how the signal gets routed to the mains. I wish the owners manual was better written. The diagrams are ok but the text is less than clear.
This is probably one of those "rookie" mistakes that I should have been able to figure out on my own. Unfortunately Im still in the dark. I have a TASCAM 488 MK II 8 Track analog recorder. My problem is that I cant seem to get each track to record only the instrument being recorded, without...
Thanks for the advice. The mic definately sounds better than the pre-amp out. I thought the preamp might give me a stronger signal to the recorder, but that doesnt appear to be the case. Signal strength appears to be the same and the preamp doesnt have the same tone.
Im trying to figure out the best way to record guitar on a tascam portastudio when using 1/4 inch unbalanced inputs. I have a Fender Blues Guitar amp with a preamp out jack. Is it better (when using a 1/4 inch input) to mic the amp or to run a line directly from the preamp out on my guitar amp...
Followup on 488 Mk II
I received my Tascam 488 Mk II back from the Tascam service center earlier this week. The total repair cost was $170 including $25 for shipping. The service was very prompt (2 weeks total time away) and they packaged the recorder very well. I checked everything out...
Received the work order from Tascam today. Replacement parts include Motor Cap, Belt Cap V-750, PR R-919 (whatever that is) and a Driving Gear Assembly. Parts and Labor to repair my 488 mk II including shipping will be $170. Was told by the tech that they will have the machine repaired and...
Thanks grimtraveller. You are correct, my CD burner connects to my computer with a USB drive. My computer also has an internal CD Burner so the computer is a necessary component in going from the RCA outputs on my 488 mk II to the CD. I decided to purchase the Behringer interface (UFO 202) to...
I have a stand alone cd burner but it uses a usb connector. Is it possible to connect the stand alone cd burner to the portastudio without actually using the computer (for the usb ports)? I assume that somehow i need to go from the rca jacks on the portastudio to the usb ports on either the...
Could someone please explain what interface I need to connect my Tascam Portastudio (488) to my computer so that I can burn 8 track master tapes to CD format. Currently I am copying to a cassette deck but would like the option of using CD format. In addition to the hardware, what software will...
Thanks
Thanks for all the advise. Sounds like I'm money ahead to send it to Tascam. Because I bought this machine used, I dont really know how much time is on it, or under what conditions it was used. There is no obvious obuse and so I assume the 488 is fairly robust. Im not heavy handed so...
