    You know what is weird

It's a bit like podcasting. You can do a decent podcast with a mic, a digital recorder and then an audio editor on a laptop. But I see folks building studios that may look great, but cost $$$$$ and are not needed, at least until they are well established.

Fredric Media Console MC-1 MP3 Audio Record/Play Any info??

Got this from a Goodwill online auction. At a loss to figure out what it does. Bluetooth in? USB? RCA loop outs? Been searching online and can find nothing! Just got it and it is obviously an MP3 recorder. But it looks for a specific folder named ????? before it can record to it and...

Yes, another Fostex low volume question. Be kind.

While I know my way around basic recording for radio, etc. I have never messed with devices used mostly by music people. So I am putting this in the newbie area, as in this case that is me. I found a nice, working black Fostex MR 8 with a 1 GB card, bag, etc. for less than 40 bucks and said...

SILENT latop for Adobe Audition use.

I produce pre-recorded radio shows, voice work, audio books, etc. No MIDI, no music. While I have good digital recorders and a variety of XLR mics, it is convenient for me to knock out a 30 second spot on the PC with a Blue Yeti. This way I can make changes faster, add a few needed comments...

"Hindenburg" audio editor gets it wrong?

Hindenburg Audio Editor For Broadcasting and Podcasting Blows It Bigtime. I have been editing spoken word audio for broadcast and audiobooks ever since I got my first 550 Meg AV compatible hard drive that cost $1,000. It was worth it to finally get away from cutting audio tape and even the...

Diamonds in the rough in Peru.

I have the privilege to host a network radio show for the Catholic Diocese of Lacrosse, Wisconsin. Out of the more than 300 weekly episodes, I especially enjoy my interviews with the folks who run an orphanage in Peru for abandoned and abused kids who have seen so much sadness in their little...

    Who uses digital audio recorders?

In my world of audio for radio broadcasting, I use a couple of different digital recorders with either XLR connections or mini-plug in. I then copy the files to my PC and edit them, mix in needed bumper music, etc. I'm curious as to why acoustic musicians are working with PCs/Macs and their fan...

Adapter from Apple/Android male plug to stereo mini plug?

I have a dual mic lavalier rig that ends in one plug...but it is the kind that works on iPhones, etc. I want to also use it on my standard digital recorders with a standard 3.5mm (?) mini plug..the one that looks like a small stereo earbud male plug. I keep finding plenty of the reverse...TO...

    Anybody ever heard wire recodings?

A while back I was asked to archive some wire recordings from the early 50's. Happily, someone in the 60's had made reel-to-reel copies, as it was tough to find a wire recorder and it only lasted aboout 10 minutes before some part failed! But I was surprised at how relatively good the sound...
