For sale are two Shure SM57's and a Shure Beta 52A. All three are in perfect working condition, only used for a couple sessions to record and album and now we don't need them anymore because we are moving to California. I actually purchased these off of people from this forum. I also have a...
Just this past weekend we had almost the same problem. The guitar player for my band has an old school Mesa Boogie Mark III from 1989 and boy is it fat. But when we put a 57 on it and tried to record, it literally sounded like crap. The clean was alright but the gain just sounded muddy and...
Holy shit this is probably the worst thing I have ever heard in my life. I would love to see the day someone tried to limit my set just because I was playing like I want. Good advice Phil, no one should ever, ever do this.
So we tried restarting the computer and it still did it. After that we went into the audio device properties and set the user recording latency offset to 86 MS and it seems to be fine. Were just not sure why we had to do that all of a sudden when before it was fine.
Just today my band was recording using Acid Pro 6.0. The drum tracks are already laid down and were attempting to record the guitar over it. The problem we are having is that when the guitar is recorded and then played back it seems way out of time with the drums. But the weird part is that...
We used an SM57 for the inside about 4 inches away from the head pointed right at the beater, an a Beta 52A on the resonant head at the bottom right about 1 inch away. I wanted to get a nice fat sound but also with definition and this approach worked out perfectly.
Yes you're exactly right. The room is almost a perfect square. The garage/warehouse is more of a rectangular shape. That's probably bad for acoustics too but the space is huge and probably wouldn't sound so dead and boxy.
Hi all, my band is going to start recording here soon and we were wondering what would be a better space for recording drums. The space we are using now has about 10-12 foot ceilings and is about 10 foot square. Not huge but a decent space. The other space we have access to is a huge garage...
Thanks for the ideas guys. I'm starting to think maybe less would be more in the long run. The only thing I worry about though without micing the toms is the definition. In my style of drumming I use a lot of toms and I want to be able to hear clearly each strike of the head. But maybe with...
So I have an 8 channel mixer, I'm recording drum set, and here's the list of mics I have:
(2) SM 57
(2) SM 58
AKG C451B Condenser
Beta 52 A
A couple crappy Nady's
CAD GXL 2200
My set up consists of a bass drum, snare, two rack toms, two floor toms, hi-hat, two crashes, splash, china, and ride...
Hey all check out my bands songs that we just recorded. Trying to get the sound out there so tell me what you think.

This is actually what we're going to do. We're going to put some hooks in the ceiling all around the drum set and then put wire or chain through them to make like a curtain system.
Ok well here's the deal. The moving blankets we're getting are about 6 by 6 feet and weigh 8.2 pounds a piece and they come by the dozen and are made out of cotton, so they're no lightweight house blanket. We really just want to isolate the drums for when we record to produce a better sound...
