i just bought an allen&heath zed 12fx mixer. Whenever I try to record vocals over an instrumental the instrumental is muted. i hit my pfl switch and my vocals record but no instrumental playback. when i turn pfl off it then play. What am i doing wrong?... oh, and i record in Sonar LE

I am looking to buy a new mixer. My price range max out at $600. What is the better mixer for recording vocals between the "behringer europower pmp6000", and the "allen&heath zed 12fx"? Does anyone know a better 1 in this price range?

i am looking for a new mixer board. I only have a budget of $650. I was wondering what would be the best mixer in that price range? I was considering the behringer pmp6000, or the allen&heath zed12fx. are these good choices or does any1 know better?
