Distortion on playback of iTunes music

The output of the ONE seems to be the same as the computers main volume output - unless I'm missing something. If I decrease this output level either from the ONE itself, or by hitting the "volume down" key on my computer - down to -5 dB, all the distortion goes away. I just need to increase...

Distortion on playback of iTunes music

no it's not - if you mean "sound check" that adjusts playback volume.

Distortion on playback of iTunes music

Hi, I've got a brand new pair of KRK Rokit 6 monitors connected to an recent model iMac via a Apogee One interface and a Mackie 1402-VLZ3 mixer. I'm not a sound guy, but I find it strange and very un-cool to be getting some mild, crackly, static-like faint distortion when I play back certain...

Adjusting to a different weighted keyboard feel + a quick question about grease

Hi, I bought a used Kurzweil PC-88 last night. I used to play the PC-88 years ago and loved the feel of the keys. Funny thing is that when my previous PC-88 broke, and I replaced it with a Rhodes/Roland MK-80 (same keybed as the Roland RD) I HATED the way the MK-80 felt. It felt cheap to...

    Apogee: 96kHz vs 192kHz?

So I gather the kHz spec is not an accurate basis to determine sound quality when choosing an audio interface?

You said something a long time ago on a thread that I appreciated. I found myself up against close minded maniacs, road blocking my question. You stepped in and laid out some truth. Thank you!

    Apogee: 96kHz vs 192kHz?

Could someone in the know fill me in on this stuff? I'm in the market for an audio interface to use with Logic. I'm not sure that at this point in my career I need the "best" yet still, I'm drawn to Apogee and RME. I was really excitied to learn about the Apogee Duet which is advertised as...

    Beatmapping?

Hello, I have an aiff file of a band playing a live song. I would like remix it. So I need to beatmap it as to find the BPM and downbeat. So I can sync loops to it. I've never done this type of thing before. I'd really like to use Reason for the remix, yet I'm not sure this can be done...

    Sheet Music?

How did I know someone would say google! I already did google. What you find when you use a search engine is not necessarily the best information. sheetmusicplus.com royally sucks. musicnotes.com has the selection I'm after but doesn't offer transposition.

    Sheet Music?

I'm looking for an online site that has a very large catalogue of popular music that I can transpose and download. Any suggestions?

    What is Aftertouch?

Cool, that makes sense. I don't think I need aftertouch for piano and rhodes sounds. Yet some of the electronic music I may be doing on the side might benefit from it. Thanks.

    What is Aftertouch?

What exactly is aftertouch on a controller keyboard? Is that the function that changes the tone of the sound after the key is depressed when you alternate pressure? I'm trying to determine if I need it or not. When I'm using a acoustic guitar sample and use more velocity to get a bend twang...

    Vocal Modeling Software?

I need to change male vocals to female. Will Melodyne do this? Any other suggestions?

    Firewire vs. USB

I'm sure many will be USB 3.0. Yet Firewire may come out with something better too. Right now, Firewire 400 is the most popular, but there is a Firewire 800 spec which is twice as fast. The RME Fireface audio interface uses Firewire800. Next gen Firewire may be comparable to USB 3.0 I'm...

    Firewire vs. USB

Thanks for the 411. So now I understand why firewire is still the best. I'm surprised to learn just how much it outperforms USB 2.0. In 2009-2010 USB 3.0 will be the standard for USB. Can you believe 5.0 GB per second!? Cool beans.
