    What now for mics?

You may be right, if I'm not using multi patterns it could save some money

    What now for mics?

Thanks so much for all the input, I'll check out all suggestions. Now that this last album is done, project wise I'm heading into a good six months or so of building a library of acoustic primarily instrumental track for music placement....kind of how I began in this business eons ago. That...

    What now for mics?

Budget up to a grand or so. Neumann perhaps but which one? Is there a Chinese mic like Eastman is to mandolins and guitars?

    What now for mics?

Been a very long time since posting on HR but here goes; My principle mics for the the last decade at least are a pair of early Studio Projects C1's and a pair of Oktava MC 012's recording a variety of acoustic instruments and my vocals. Though they've severed me well (I'm signed to a label with...

    Any Favorite Acoustics?

You can't go wrong with the usual suspects of Martin, Taylor, Gibson and Guild because you can always sell them for a decent price if you buy used. You might try the classifieds of the forums of those respective names or the Acoustic Guitar Forum in peticular....I've had great experiences buying...

    Recording Slide. Noisey. Strings?

Elixir strings and a glass slide of wine bottle thickness will help.

How do you treat your fretboard?

Boiled linseed oil lightly applied, then wiped off with a damp cloth, once or twice a year. Everything else dries out a lot faster. Like me, the stuff goes back to the covered wagon days...it kept the wheels together.

    Serious Acoustic Pickups

I guess it was around '75 or '76 when I got my long since stolen Sunrise, it was one of the first half dozen or so made.....in the back of Westwood Music. Combined with an internal mini condenser mic (Sony back then) it was a great combination for shows, with the Sunrise for monitors and the mic...

    2488mk2 edit and routing questions?

Editing is not the 2488's strong suit. As a stand alone recorder it's nice to have everything in house and all but I've taken to rendering the individual tracks to .wav files and exporting them to my computer for editing, then putting them back on the 2488 for mixing. Kind of a slow process but...

    2488 won't boot up

I've never looked at mine but as far as I know it's a similar layout to the old 788 and uses a regular old desktop hard drive that could be checked out by any computer tech. If there's no sound at all on startup then the hard drive may be your problem.

    2488 won't boot up

Is it new or used? It's a pretty simple and dedicated OS and should be able to boot. Unplug everything but the power cord and see if it boots up.

    Subtle Strap-Locks?

Cool idea! I think I'll get some.

    2488 Neo Froze

Do you hear anything from the hard drive? I kind of sounds like the hard drive went belly up.

Guild DV acoustics kick much butt!

I've had my DV-52 for about 10 years now, and like yours, I bought it used. It's a gloss '96 witha natural top. Setup and pickup were done by Jim Foote at Music Works and it's been a solid go-to guitar ever since. I've used it for songwriting, recording, and stage and I've got to say it has been...

    Junior Brown...

Outstanding! That's how things should be.
