Rather than the AT-M40 cans, you might want to consider the Sennheiser HD280Pro for the same price (or a little less) @ Overstock.com. I can't post a link, as I haven't posted enough (apparently).
I'm in a similar situation, looking for a quality interface. I *think* I've finally decided on the M-Audio fast track ultra 8r......u can get it for 400 shipped. It has very similar specs & abilities. I like the 2-headphone output. Anyway, I'm interested to see other responses.
