Singing closer to the microphone to take advantage of the proximity effect of the microphone. That's also dependent on him using good mic technique. Also have him send you tracks without 8-12 dbs boosted. I'm assuming that he doesn't yet know how deep his voice sounds in a mix but boosting that...
It's easy to think that your mixes are good enough until you actually compare them to better mixes. I've gone through that and still go through it. Seeing as your song as that sort of trap, hip hop vibe. Id say it would be good to reference other mixes in this genre and compare to yours.
That...
I agree that the vocal doesn't really sound mixed into the music as well as it could be. I think part of it is the fact that its a bit upfront. I think the clap and hi hats are too low and the sub bass is a bit too loud. I can't tell if there is a kick but if there isn't, i think adding one...
I like using the Abbey Road Plates a lot, it tends to work on vocals a lot but i like it on guitars too. I also use the OldSchoolVerb by Voxengo. It's a nice all around reverb. Last reverb i use is the stock Logic verb Space Designer.
I liked the piece and was able to listen to it all the way through. Doesn't really get monotonous to me. Im not sure if you mixed this or not but the only real issue i had with it was a bit of boominess that sounds like its from recording over the soundhole of the guitar. Also a lot of string...
sounds very good to me. Only things i notice is that it would be a bit wider. It seemed like everything is close to the middle. Also the upright bass could probably come up a db. Other than that it sounds really nice to me.
I agree that that cleaned it up a little. My feeling though is that you should go in and address those frequencies on the individual tracks. To me, its not just the bass that's dominating the 200-600 area, its the synths and kick as well. You wouldn't necessarily need to cut 200-600 from every...
Sounds pretty nice. Only two things that really bothered me that i didn't see mentioned was that the hi hat was a tad loud in the mix and I think the vocal would sound better if it was buried a little bit more. It's not only poking through but its on top of the mix. Very nice reworking or the...
i like the feel of this and the sounds you use. It sounds like mixwise, there are frequencies building up and its making it sound like theres no high end. I'd say mix it a bit on your JBL's and cross reference with your headphones and any other playback system you have.
First, I just wanna mention that I don't think you're as far off from the reference as you may think you are. It's very close to it. The main differences that i hear from both are that 1) the guitars are more audible and the bass guitar is really there to support the rhythm. I don't hear really...
Hey guys, I got an instrumental song that my band recorded live. I'm just getting into live band recording and mixing so let me know anything that you hear that may need addressing. Thanks!
