    stupid question

This place is pretty good too .... diyAudio

    Would this work?

I built one for my kit , I used a small subwoofer and two 100 ohm resistors (one on each leg of the speaker) connected to a XLR and into a mic preamp ...... It is really hot so you might have to use a 20db pad on the preamp or make a pad to get the signal down ...... Cheers

    DIY studio monitors

Yes , chips are just fine , pretty much everything uses them these days , most studio monitors use a chip like the LM3886 or TDA7293 , most Hi-Fi recievers use Chips most solid state guitar amps use chips .... The IC is usually not the weak part in an audio curcuit , the PCB layout and the...

    DIY studio monitors

I attached a simple and inexpensive to build 2 way power amp .... it includes the active crossover and puts out about 30w for the woofer and 15w for the tweeter ..... You can use pretty much any type of opamp for the crossover section and if you need more power you can use a TDA2050 for the...

    DIY studio monitors

Do you have any idea what you are doing ?? Because if you don"t then you better find a different project because you are just going to be wasting time and a lot of money just to end up with a bunch of stuff that doesn"t work ..... Firstly " Class A " is a bad idea unless you are an experienced...

how do you fix blown inputs on a Mbox2?

I don"t think it"s Blown inputs , the Term "Blown Inputs" doesn"t really mean anything as you can"t really "Blow" inputs unless you plug a high voltage AC source into the inputs (or DC but the Phantom power blocking capacitors would block that or the capacitors would blow) which would be quite...

    fixing a mackie 1220

I would suggest that maybe the opamp fried because there was a Short , maybe somehow the bottom of the curcuit board made contact with the chassis which caused it ...... I would look on the bottom of the board and see if there are any shorts or any way the board could make contact with the...

    building a mixing console

I agree with Diggy , Making a Quality mixer from the ground up is a very hard and complex prosess and will take a long time .... and an electrical engineer usually deals with Large scale power distribution and motor controll applications so your brother won"t be of any major help (unless he is...

    Bright Switch

The Capacitor doesn"t give high end back it just attenuates the Low frequency so the High stands out more , that is what all passive filters do ...... The resistor and Capacitor together make a filter that shunts certain frequencies to ground ....... this explaines it somewhat ..... RC...

    Mixer Recapping

It depends were the caps are used ..... if you need high Value"s and they are in the signal path then a BP Electro cap is perfectly accepable (Film caps are usually too big in high values) if the caps are for Supply filtering you would be better off using regular electrolitics as they are...

    Building A Passive Headphone Mixer

There are reasons why Passive mixers aren"t common and more popular , and that reason is they Suck ...... When Mixing you have to use Resistors to sum inputs and Pots to controll levels and all of this introduces Losses of signal and change of impedance which also increases losses so what comes...

    Tube preamp

Those aren"t real tube preamps .... Just because something has a tube in in doesn"t meant that it"s a tube preamp ..... Tubes get to their proper opperating point when run at 150v - 250v + , these tubes are run at like 12v which means that they don"t actually do much amplification and because...

    new opamp

Okay , there is one small issue when trying to replace an OPA2604 , the OPA2604 is a very good opamp but it has a feature that makes it pretty hard to replace in some cases and that is that the OPA2604 has a Max supply voltage of +/-24v which is higher than pretty much any other opamp , so if...

    Recording a bass drum

What kind of mic are you useing , is it an actual kick drum mic or just a regular dynamic ?? Try boosting the bass drum at 100hz ish .....

    Digital amplification

PurePath and DDX are both Class D amplifiers ..... DDX amps can actually handle a Digital signal like the digital out on a Soundcard ...... most class D amps start off in the analogue domain because most all music is analogue and even digital music starts off and ends up Analogue at some...
