Computer has no clue the TASCAM box is hooked up

Haha...didn't think of that. But, no, at one point both boxes were sitting here at the same time, so I gotta rule that out. Merry Christmas to you as well...and to all else who helped me troubleshoot this thing! Or, of course, Happy Chanuka, Merry Solstice Celebration, or whatever else applies!

Computer has no clue the TASCAM box is hooked up

It's a Christmas Miracle! In a red box no less! I just got myself a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, and it's working great! None of this "Do excuse me, but I don't like some of the stuff you've got on this computer" business...it just works! I guess I'll never find out what was going on with the...

Computer has no clue the TASCAM box is hooked up

I gave that a shot (I know I said I didn't have time, but you know how it is!). I'm not sure it really proved anything, because after I had uninstalled the video drivers, Windows dutifully started re-installing them without bothering to ask me. I think it had already installed them before I was...

Thanks, Mark...yeah, I've got a driver folder under Windows also...looks pretty much the same as yours except mine's the 1200 so there's some differences. I also have a setup log...it doesn't look like there was a problem with the installation (other than the fact that it doesn't work of course!).

Computer has no clue the TASCAM box is hooked up

I haven't tried disabling the video cards then reinstalling...I may try that if I can get to it before tomorrow night, but I'm booked pretty solid til then. I'm going to Guitar Center on Monday night, so if it's not resolved by then I'm just going to buy something else then do another RMA on the...

Computer has no clue the TASCAM box is hooked up

I ran the Fixit thing...it told me that some hardware changes might not have been detected - and that it had "fixed it". Still no orange USB light on the box, though. Then it said that an unknown device (apparently the TASCAM) has a driver problem. So now I'm wondering if the driver in NG or if...

Computer has no clue the TASCAM box is hooked up

I'll give that a shot, Tadpui...today is hectic but maybe I can get to it tonight. Good tip, Arcaxis..those updates can be nasty...sometimes they'll switch my ICC profile behind my back. But that's not what's going on here, though...I'm already running the 4777 fix.

Computer has no clue the TASCAM box is hooked up

No...there's no other computers in the house. What else could be going on that's interfering with these things? Their tech support guy said if I've tried all the usual suspects (different USB cable, different port, disconnecting other USB devices, etc) then the box is NG.

Well, unit #2 has just arrived. Plugged it in, installed the drivers, went through all the cable-yanking and re-re-re-installing charades...it's a paperweight. Not sure how two boxes can leave the factory failing to pass a test that can be verified by whether or not an orange light goes on, but...

Computer has no clue the TASCAM box is hooked up

My recording in the past has been limited to my old SM-58, which is dynamic. So, yeah, I'm a bit concerned about what these sensitive mics will pick up. Hmmm...you just got me thinking...so just I tried running a mic cable around the corner from the computer room to the bedroom - which is much...

Computer has no clue the TASCAM box is hooked up

Well, the TASCAM tech support guy said that if I've tried all the above and it still doesn't work, the box is FUBAR. I called Musician's Friend - where I ordered it - and it looked like I was going to have to send back the whole package deal (the TASCAM, 2 mics, 2 mic stands, cables, headphones...

Thanks for the tip on USBDeview. It's not telling me much useful info, though. It looks kind of like your TASCAM device, except that where you're getting "No Yes No No", I'm getting all "Nos".

Yep...I do some heavy duty graphics...I used to do Flight Sim a lot as well.

Computer has no clue the TASCAM box is hooked up

Yeah...I tried restarting after removing the drivers and before reinstalling. I don't think I have a USB 3 port on the computer - it's five years old. The cable from the TASCAM is USB 2 as far as I can tell...the insert in the plug is white, not blue. Here's the info on the computer: Dell XPS...

Got it...makes sense. That's the same driver version as what I'm using. There were a few botched installations, but I removed the drivers before re-installing (which the installer seems to do automatically anyway) PC!
