I'm planning to have a rack that is relatively portable, for recording classical guitar and occasionally chamber ensembles. I have a pair of Neumann KM184 for miking the guitar, and one AKG C414 XLII for voice, and sometime for MS. Until now I have used the Focusrite Saffire 56 liquid, but it's...
I see! Then it's surprising that the cheapest option "happens" to have 8 preapms.
One more option I consider is to add a 100 and buy a used RME UC. I can trust the drivers to be updated in the future, unlike the ones from Focusrite (or Behringer).
After reading the PDF with the info about the standalone mode, I know that this mode does allow to use the eight preapms of the Saffire 56 liquid via the ADAT of an interface.
I just need such an interface now.. Can you please give me a recommendation of a simple audio interface with ADAT...
Yes, that's my concern. I planned keeping an older MacBook as it is (Sierra) and using it only for recording - until it crashed recently. So I hope that the Saffire doesn't end as a paperweight.
Thanks for your replies. This is good news, on one hand t's not the standalone that rme ufx does (which was my hope) but on the other hand, the eight preapms can still function with another interface.
Will it be possible to use it with an interface like Presonus AudioBox iTwo (which can connect...

I have a question about bass traps in the corners. I plan to make them with rock wool, and I see that there are soft pieces and rigid ones. At first I thought that it's necessary to build a wooden frame for the soft wool, but it looks like I can have a large piece coated with either foam or...
Thank you for the fast replies!
Yes, I'm THAT kind of a guitarist... and my concert guitar is also left without varnish for this reason :)
I'm very aware that the room I rent is nowhere near a recording studio, but on the other hand it's not where I'll be producing my commecrial CD (more like...
Hi everyone,
I'm a musician living in Switzerland, playing classical and acoustic guitar. Recently I moved my teaching/recording studio to a new room.
It's a 25 m2 room on the basement floor, with 5.7m long, 4.5m wide and 2.2m high. The area is very quiet so no need to isolate noise from...
