So we moved out of our previous studio in december, and we're working with the local YMCA at the moment, who have a recording studio they're looking to rebuild. Currently it's just one small room with an abundance of 2" rockwool acoustic treatment and two poorly constructedbroadband absorbers in...
Right, I have absolutely no idea where to post this but this seems like the place I'm most likely to get useful results.
I want to make an impulse response of my acoustic guitar's body. I have K&K pure mini's in it. No electronics, just piezo pickups connected straight to an output jack. I've...
How much does a set of monitors enclosure impact their sound? If I were to take the drivers out and put them in something else, would it completely ruin them?
So I've just moved into a new house, and I'm looking to soundproof a room. The room is in an extension, so the original thick outside wall is between me and the rest of the house, but naturally the door is the weak point.
I've been looking into soundproof doors, but nowhere seems to be quoting...
Anyone used one of these? Or the Gemini 2? I picked one up second hand the other day and so far I love it, the high frequency response just smoothly extends off into the sunset and out of sight, it's brilliant :D

I don't suppose anyone here knows where the cheapest place to get them in the UK is?
They're for aesthetic reasons, they'll be going on top of the mineral wool we're using, not to actually ~do~ anything, don't worry. Right now it's covered by curtains and cloth, but we want to go for something...
So I'm going to be recording an album with a friend in the next few months, and we've just found out we'll be able to record the grand piano in the massive main hall of our old school, because the music teacher is cool like that. VST's are the fallback plan, but this'll be fun so we're trying it...
Bilding has ~finally~ commenced! Over the past 5 days or so we've put up the frame and ended up using plasterboard for the walls. The front wall is complete, minus the live room window and the vocal booth wall is plasterboarded on one side. Still needs prettying up, of course, but it's actual...
Because mic shootouts are cool. Four radically different mics, don't think I'm going to tell you what any of them are yet though, get some opinions on them first.
Everything was running into channels three through six on the liquid saffire 56 we have down the studio, and level matched to within...
Hi.
So, I've tried typing out the situation I'm in a few times now and failed to describe it well each time, so I'll just type out what I need help with and fill in any details as needed.
Basically, we (the organization I volunteer and occasionally work for) need to build a studio into a 7'8"...
So ribbon mics have a very low output impedance, but it's advised that the preamps input impedance shouldn't be matched to that, but about 10-15x higher at least.
But I can't find ANY actual useful resources on this beyond "Do it like this because this is how its meant to be done"
So, why...
The studio I work at is selling one of these. Open but unused. A misinformed purchase when the studio was just starting out (before I worked there, I might add), we don't actually need a live desk. Anyone interested? :p

This thing is warmer and punchier than an abusive husband in an oven, it's amazing! I can't wait to use it in some real sessions! :D
Anyone else got any experience with these?
