Behringer bought Midas a few years ago. Their current mixer line (I don't know which ones) are reported to be way good because they are Midas designed. Build quality is a whole other issue though.

I will bet it has a battery that has gone dead. I think I have the same unit in my rack I have not used in years. I guess I will find out if it still works sooner or later.

I have never had this problem and never thought about it much. I was taught to understand the mic's pickup pattern and place the mic so that it rejects any noise sources. I guess I have done this so long I do it as second nature.

I generally use microphones to mic the drums. Direct line to console seems to not work for me.

If the mic looks "fashionable" with the sound source, it will probably work great. This changes with the times, however. The 70-80s was the U87 era. God knows what today's fashion is with Lady Ga-Ga and all.

ANY used DAT will cease to work 1 minute out of the box. This is assuming it ever worked at all.

I wonder what the core of Apple Studios is? Can it rot? The core of my studio is a MCI 2424 2" recorder and a RADAR 24 track HD recorder along with my Allen & Heath console.

Classic case of talent that blames everything/everyone for his/her mistakes. Bottom line: You probably are wasting your time here. This person will be unworkable with any team environment.

I have a MCI 2424 2" analog deck and a IZ RADAR digital recorder. In the end, nobody has ever been able to distunguise which is which when I compile recordings on a CD. It is only when people keep yapping that the brain starts to imagine all kinds of differences. Now there IS a major difference...

Years ago I recorded one of my best albums ever (stands to this day!) on a Behringer MX8000. I have no idea if their mixers have gotten worse or not, but the one time I used one it was not bad at all. Whatever works. Forget what people say. If it works for you why bother to change?

The only mic that works with that pre-amp is a Neuman U 87.
