    Brass sample packs?

Hey all, I'm looking for some real / live brass sample packs. Free or paid for. E.g. trumpet solos or sax solos. If anyone can point me the right direction I'd be really grateful :) Thanks!

Recommendation for vocal mic for male voice

I actually don't have an SM57. I keep forgetting to get one. Obviously I know how popular they are. Maybe that's the best cheaper option? I love the look of the Neumann 102, I've been recommended. I presume there's a big difference between that and an SM57?

Recommendation for vocal mic for male voice

Hey, I've got two clients coming up soon who will have a low vocal range. I also had a client earlier in the year with a low vocal range and used a Rode NT2A. Only when I was mixing did I realise how it has a really poor frequency response for the lows and low mids. Excellent for female voices...

balancing the vocals: compression / waves vocal rider / manual automation on particularly loud words or phrases

Oh wow, that's completely different to anything I've tried. Do you have any examples online of songs you've worked on with that chain?

balancing the vocals: compression / waves vocal rider / manual automation on particularly loud words or phrases

I've been mastering a song for a client for most of today. And one thing has continually taken me back to the mixing session: the vocals being too loud on certain words which causes pumping when put in the mastering chain. I've messed around with different compressor settings to tame it, I've...

    Acoustic blankets... or duvets?

Thanks for your responses keith and folkcafe. Keith, I think you're right. I do think that these acoustic blankets are quite pricey for what they are, this is why I'm hesitant to rush out and buy. Folkcafe - my main aim is to cut out room reflections. My studio is actually the end of large...

    Acoustic blankets... or duvets?

Hey all, I've no doubt there's been countless messages over the years about this kind of question. So I'm sorry to create another one. Basically, I'm designing a vocal booth, or more of a closet, within my studio. On a budget otherwise I'd build a whole new room! I know it's not ideal, but once...

Have a look at my studio space - where should I have the speakers?

Hey! Just seen it - thanks a lot for taking the time to do that. It makes a lot of sense to turn the speakers around, hadn't thought of that at all! Today I've moved the workstation and speakers to the short wall at the front. The speakers sound awful in this new position, that is until I move...

Have a look at my studio space - where should I have the speakers?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice. I'm going to move it around today and once the acoustic treatment is in place hopefully it'll be better

Have a look at my studio space - where should I have the speakers?

Thanks. So the length of the room is about 11m. I will be putting acoustic treatment in the studio part of the room but what about the rest of the room? Approx 5x3 will be the studio and 6x3 will be the kids play area. Would it be better to put a curtain up to divide the sections to control the...

Vocal booth - yey or ney?

Thanks so much for all the feedback. Food for thought. I would love to have the funds to buy a booth for $5000, but until then I've got to settle for cheap DIY techniques! Still trying to get my head around the concept of 'air' though: I thought when recording vocals you'll want the...
